Why are Protestants taking a road back to Rome? Christianity Today says evangelicals are now looking back to ancient practices, most found in Roman Catholicism. Guest Pastor Bob DeWaay and Jan attribute this to a lack of discernment and the fact that the Bible no longer plays the role it once did for many Christians. Additionally, weak preaching doesn't encourage discernment. www.CICMinistry.org

Oh no!
This is so horrible! I'm assuming ecumenism has a lot to do with this.
Our family is leaving our church family because we belong to the United Methodist church and it's ecumenical. We don't want our daughter growing up thinking that's ok. I've heard people say, "We all basically believe the same thing anyway." I've tried to educate some without being divisive. In the process of leaving I've had the opportunity to explain why. There's a woman who called recently to tell me how much she enjoyed the children singing the week before and hoped that there would be a lot more of that. (I started the children's choir back up this winter and had a Sunday School class - that's why it's taken a few months to leave - didn't want to just walk out on the kids). I told her there wouldn't, actually, and why. She actually understood and said,"The things I've heard while sitting on committees!"...But she didn't have time to tell me what and now I'm terribly curious.
I confronted my pastor about it a couple of years ago - how could he reconcile being affiliated with the RCC when they have such false teachings? He said it gives him a chance to go over there once in awhile when they have pulpit exchange to give them the gospel. He said a catholic priest would never come to our church, tho, because the RCC wouldn't allow it. It wasn't 2 months later that they announced the catholic father would be doing the service on a Saturday night. I was so angry! :tsk
The more I read about the RCC and their diabolical plans for us Protestants - the more I just want to - well - this Sunday is our last Sunday there.
When I told my pastor we were leaving because of ecumenism he said, "But that's not biblical!" I gave him the what-for at that point and told him that Marian worship was not biblical, either. And neither is doing penance for sins that Jesus already paid for...He hung his head. I do love him as a brother, tho. And pray for him. He might be open to having his blinders removed. I don't know.:pray
