After what I witnessed tonight, I honestly believe it’s energy...or lack thereof, that will bring America to BEG to come under the NWO!

I was watching CSPAN tonight when Congressman John Petersen
(R-Pennsylvania) came on and gave a “what-for” to Congress, basically castrating them for doing nothing about our energy crisis. I didn’t know anyone with logic and a level head still existed in congress! Bless his heart...HE should be running for President!!

Did you know 66.5% of our oil is from foreign countries. We produce 33.7% and that’s not from the big oil companies, that’s from little people-private companies.
Here’s the rest of the breakdown:

Canada 12%
Saudi Arabia 9.6%
Mexico 9.3% (you’d think with all the illegals we’re taking in we’d get a bigger cut)
Venezuela 7.5%
Nigeria 7.2%
Angola 3.3%
Iraq 3.2%
Algeria 3.1%
Ecuador 1.3%
Kuwait 1.2%
and 8.6% from non-Opec countries
Not a lot of “stable” countries we’re buying from.

He basically told them, congress and our last three presidents are at fault of our energy crisis. He pointed out that America is rich in resources, but neither congress nor our presidents have allowed us to tap those resources because they are OWNED by environmental groups. Then he went down the list:

The Sierra Club won’t allow shale/oil production

Green Peace wants us to phase out fossil fuels...HELLO...that’s 90% of our energy

Environmental Defense Fund is out to shut down power plants and anything with a smoke stack...do away with them. Those are America’s JOBS!!

Defenders of Wilderness wants no coastal oil rigs. (America hasn’t had an oil spill since 1969).

Natural Resource Defense Council wants no more coal mines, and wants to do away with the ones we have, saying they destroy land.

We can’t have hydro energy because these, and other, environmentalists won’t let us put up any dams.

I’m embarrassed to say I’ve donated to a couple of these groups, unknowingly enabling them to buy off politicians votes to make sure we don’t produce our own energy:rolleyes.

Congressman Petersen went on to say we have the capability of producing liquid coal, but because we can’t build new mines, we can’t start it. He said the Midwest is rich, RICH in natural gas...but we’re not allowed to drill for it.

We’re not allowed to drill for gas either. And he’s HUGE on drilling for gas because gas is used in everything...to bend steel, in hand creams, for electricity...the list just went on.

Ethanol is not good because it costs too much to produce. Wind energy is good until you have little or no wind, and as he stated, you need a back-up, gas generator when this happens.

He’s all for renewable energy, which he says we could find IF we were allowed to drill for gas and oil, and then the royalties can be used for renewable energy inventions. That’s what Canada is doing.

He said a lot of companies have gone over seas because of the much cheaper energy costs over there. He brought up DOW Chemical, one of the last, great, American companies, who spent $17M in energy to run it’s plants two years ago. A year ago, they spent $28M. He has no idea what they’re spending today.

Due to environmentalists, congress has placed over 85% of our outer Continental Shelf off limits. But on the flip side, they now want to try and sue Opec for their prices, which is a waste of time. And TIME is something we really don’t have!

He said Bush (I) put a moratorium in place for 5 years while we assessed the outer Continental Shelf to see how much was out there. Guess what? WE HAVE NEVER GOTTEN AROUND TO ASSESSING!! We’ve never been allowed seismographic testing.

Clinton came in and extended the moratorium to 2012, and then vetoed the Alaskan, Anwr.

Bush (II) has ignored all this and refused to talk about it!

Congressman Petersen said the president can lift the moratorium AT ANY TIME! He doesn’t need congress’ approval. Yet, nothing is done.

Congressman Petersen said the voters should DEMAND the candidates lay out an energy policy.

He's right! I hear none of the presidential candidates including an energy outline in their platform. They’re busy dickering about a 1 degree increase in temperature, and talking about carbon taxes, but nothing is being promoted, that’s “cost effective”, on how to break our ties to foreign oil.

People need to call, write, fax and hound their congressmen and senators.

As I was listening to him and seeing the insanity of our dependence on other countries, yet doing nothing, I finally got it!! I think I understand how we get sucked into the NWO. It’s going to be via energy. Because when the unstable countries get even more unstable, (and I can’t believe Mr. Chavez...Mr. I Hate America, is selling us 7.5% of our oil), or are persuaded to no longer sell us oil, WE WILL crumble!!! And then we’ll be at the mercy of a government who can provide heat and gas. At which point, our lifestyles will be rationed. We’ll be told we can only have one vehicle, what KIND of vehicle, what are thermostats are to be set at, ect. It’s almost like congress and the last 3 presidents have been told to quietly do nothing so we’ll take any kind of deal once we run out of energy.

Congress is wasting its time on pork projects, and campaigning, and worried about their next recess as we pay over $100/week to fill our tanks to get to work to make $340/week. I live out in the country and are therefore a slave to propane. Two years ago it was $1.19/gallon. Last year it was $1.79. Last week, my husband was talking to our propane guy about the pre-buy for this winter. The company would have already bought propane for winter by now, but he told my husband, they are waiting because right now it’s over $3/gallon. How are people going to stay even moderately warm this winter? Yet, congress would rather debate the fate of the polar bear???!!!

People need to start asking McCain, Hillary, and Mr. Rock Star, what exactly
they’re going to do about our energy crisis. And if they start talking carbon taxes, scream them off stage.

Congressman Peterson, on his website, has a wonderful hand-out. It’s about the NEED Act (National Environment and Energy Development act), he’s trying to pass. I suggest everyone take a look at it. Page 2 is most amusing, describing in pictures how we got here. It’s well worth the read, if not printing out so you can shock your friends and family. http://www.house.gov/johnpeterson/NEED%20Act/NEED%20ACT.%20Train%20Wreck%20Packet.pdf

We all need to be pushing our congressmen and senators to pass this act!!

If you can catch a re-run of tonight’s CSPAN I on the web or on their site, this guy is well worth the listen.

I agree 100% with Congressman John Petersen. We could fix alot of our problems if our government would stop worrying about what companies toes they are going to step on if they use what we got. It's just plain greed in my book. It reminds me of that saying what's mine is mine and what's yours is mine and I'm going to use it all.

It's a curse from worshiping the earth (environmentalism).

You've hit the nail on the head. They are the reason no new refineries have been built in 30 years, no new drilling allowed in the Gulf of Mexico, yet Cuba is allowing China to drill in their part of the Gulf:doh Our SS teacher told us of a friend of his who had a drilling permit off the coast at Malibu, Ca, but had to spend $11 million dollars to put up something to "screen" the rig from the beach:faint Sure wish I had seen this congressman on C-Span. I'll give our senators and congressmen a call about this. Thanks for sharing this:hug
:pound Congress wanting to sue OPEC:pound What a joke:pound

I said this last night. All this happening in an election year and people are looking for "change" We'll get change alright but will we like it? Remains to be seen. People would look to anyone who can get this oil issue under control.

This also came up in Congress yesterday, as they were grilling the oil execs about the prices. A democratic congressman attacked a big wheel of one of the oil companies, and the big wheel's reply:

We are sitting on vast amounts of oil here in the continental US, that this govt will not allow us to tap into, so who is hosing the American people?

That is my "paraphrasing", but I was glad to hear SOMEONE stand up to Congress, especially since it was a democrat he was talking to.

Republican congress, in 1995, passed legislation to start drilling in our country, and Clinton vetoed the bill. That was 13 years ago.....had he not vetoed it, we could be pumping our own oil by now. We have also not built a refinery in 30 years, due to "environmentalists" (which I believe are big stock holders in foreign oil). If you look closely, you will see which side (the left) are in bed with "environmentalists", and have been.

It's time we, the people, start DEMANDING we drill for our own oil. I've been reminding my reps repeatedly, and will continue. This will be the collapse of our whole economy, if something isn't done. Off-shore drilling is going to be done, if not by us, then by other countries, so the argument about the "environment" is mute. Even if we do not drill, others are, so what's the point?

Remember...we could be drilling our own oil NOW if President Bush would lift the moratorium:doh!!! Yes, wrongs were done on the Democratic side, but also on the Republican side. And not doing anything is just as bad...maybe worse!

THAT needs to be our question to the candidates...WILL YOU LIFE THE MORATORIUM ON DRILLING?
