I want to put together a 72 hour kit for my family and am thinking I need dehydrated foodstuffs for ease of portability. Looking online I see lots of suppliers/options. Do any posters have suggestions for best;

1. Best flavor
2. Best value
3. Best response/shipping time
4. Best shelf life

and 'best' of any other sort that I've not mentioned due to ignorance. I don't want to store a lousy product and would appreciate imput.

I hope I haven't broken any rules by asking for specific brand names/suppliers...if I have I appologize.

You better add a number 5 to your list :

1. Best flavor
2. Best value
3. Best response/shipping time
4. Best shelf life
5. AVAILABILITY

The last I heard is that many suppliers have little or no stock left.

I have Mountain House food for emergency and I have some military MRE's, too, but also canned Tuna and Spam (which lasts forever), dried beans, soups (dried like Lipton), rice, etc... You can find stuff in the grocery store that's cheaper than "emergency" food, just as portable and that have a long shelf life.

Alot of your sport stores carry Mountian House freeze dried foods. I would try there so you don't have to wait. I bought several for our Bug Out bags. They are in the camping section. I also bought the little sterno stove and sterno since they are small and light weight and easy to pack, So we have a a way to make hot water. I bought mine at Sportsmen Warehouse they have a great selection of things there just perfect for camping ..... or bugging out !
