Yesterday - after my husband and I went walking - we were standing in front of our garage. these 3 birds - small ones started darting and swooping down to hit our little silky terrier. I thought maybe we were around a nest. But there isn't any trees big enough to hold a nest. They did it for about - 3 mins then just flew away. It was odd behavior - it has never happened before. We walk every day. They didn't attack us at all - just the dog. I'm sure its normal - but he is so small - they were coming so close to us - like they were not scared - trying to get him.

I don't know if this has to do with animals. . . more like nature in general.

Okay, going to sound nuts here, but here goes:

I drive a newspaper route in the morning (also run my own business. The route takes two and a half hours, is early in the morning, leaves me free to do my own business the rest of the day). I leave the house usually around four and it is dark for a good hour into the route.

Usually I really enjoy the route. I live in a rural area and I get to take a lot of back roads with woods, fields and farms. There's no traffic yet, it's quiet. I have the window down and enjoy the breeze, the smells, and the wildlife I run across.

I've noticed that the animals come in trends. One day I'll see a lot of deer, but hardly anything else. The next day, I'll have a lot of birds in the road, but hardly anything else. Another day it's rabbits. On another, cats. Today, it was raccoons (I saw six) but nothing else. That in itself I think is kind of wierd. There was even one day where all I saw was livestock outside of their fences: 1 cow at one place, 6 sheep at another, 1 lamb someplace totally different. That same day, I had a farm goose stand in the middle of the road and hiss at me. It didn't want to let me pass, I had to 'sneak' the car around it very slowly.

Anywho, the trends are a little wierd (things that make you go 'hmm' but probably not significant.

The other thing though is harder to put my finger on, but really creeps me out: Lately, just the past week or so, the ride isn't pleasant anymore. Some of the back roads I find myself putting my window up and praying for protection. I've seen things in the underbrush, about the height of a deer, but when the light hits them, their eyes don't reflect green like normal, but bright orange. I get bad feelings in the woods, as though when I put my arm out to deliver the paper something is going to grab it. I find myself feeling anxious the entire first hour while it is still dark, and I can't explain it.

I grew up out in the country, dirt roads, nearest neighbor a mile away, and never thought anything of walking miles in the dark. Now I can barely drive it. It is as though the whole of nature has taken a turn towards being menacing (sorry, that's the only word I can think of). I always felt a part of nature before, accepted by it as part of the scheme of things. Now, I feel as though it has subtly changed and that it no longer views me as something to be accepted, but something foreign (like antibodies going after a virus in your body's immune system -- ?)

Has anyone else felt this lately?

I wouldnt worry about a deers eyes glowing orange I have seen it before and it seems to be do with the lights that shine on them and the way the light hits them.

not all birds nest in trees if a shrub was near by there could have been a birds nest nearby.

RebMel,

Glad to hear things are better with your paper round. The first thing that crossed my mind is how easy it is to get spooked and then hang onto that feeling for a seemingly irrational reason and amount of time! I am certainly not minimizing what you experienced, but it reminded me of how I might be up late at night on the computer, dh is in bed already and I end up reading about something spooky (sometimes on RR!). Then all of a sudden I am spooked and looking over my shoulder. Then I goto bed and scoot down the dark hallway as quickly as possible, trying not to look behind me, but then I do. And guess what I see...? Nothing - lol. Then I feel silly and snuggle up in bed.

Having said that, I do think there is the possibility of evil attracting evil.

K, to get back on the weird animal behavior trend, our four cats walk with dh and I as we take our morning walks. Not end times stuff or signs of impending doom, just a sight to behold... so the neighbors tell us. :lol

A squirrel attacked a friend the other day while she was gardening...it left and came back 5 times to get her....then it attacked the cedar fence. I think it had some anger issues!

I also live in East Texas and this morning I saw the body of a doe alongside the road, where she obviously had been hit by a car or truck. Very unusual to see deer out along a busy FM road. Yesterday afternoon, we saw an armadillo and they are strictly nocturnal. My yard has evidence of that as they've been digging in it :hairout You can't walk around it without looking down to keep from stepping into one as some of them are huge. Prior to last year, they've stayed away from the house. I heard where a bobcat grabbed a young boy and his Dad was able to scare it off. The coyote attack on the toddlers was really shocking as usually they avoid humans at all costs. I've just had this sense of expectation all year, and I've never had this feeling before. I can sit on the deck at night, and it's like all creation is holding it's breath~~~that's the only way I can explain it.
God bless y'all and remember our troops this Memorial Day and their sacrifices over the years to give us the freedoms we enjoy:hug

That people have armadillos running around is amazing to me....because I've always lived up here in Minnesota. We only see armadillos in nature books!!!

We've recently had a pair of Sandhill Crane's show up on our farm. They don't usually go further north than Georgia that I am aware of and this is MD. :scratch Blue herons are very common in this area but no one around here has ever seen these type of cranes before. We have two neighbors that boarder our property and we have all been avidly watching them and reporting to eachother. :lol2 It might actually turn out to be a witnessing opportunity as one of the neighbors runs a tattoo parlour. Their property is pretty run down and we have caught them planting pot in our runoff ditches. :rolleyes

[QUOTE=writesinme;600010]:aha My sister used to have one of those.

I believe that your observations are right on and should coincide with events written in Joel 2. They come from the end of heaven, and take over the cities. Is this God's Sanctified Ones. We probably should have kept making that good ol DDT.

I think we need to keep in mind that animals are mating now and they get really STUPID. I keep seeing roadkill (raccoons mostly) and I can't help but chuckle that they were probably on their way to a "date.":heh
