Is this just a midwestern thing? (I think the Great Lakes are close enough - still enough farmnland.) I do this myself sometimes, and I don't know why; pretty much only with kids riding with me, though, or at the fair with me, to get the animals' attention I guess. I hear others doing it a bit more than I do. You're driving past a field of cows, or just looking at them at the county fair, and you just feeling like mooing at them.

Is it a bit of fun that we know the creatures won't mind if we do it? An attempt to return to simpler times of childhood? What?

I've lived all over the country. We've always talked 'animal speak' when we went by the animals (horses, cows, dogs, cats, ducks, turkeys, you name it....told our kids that brown cows give chocolate milk, too. :aha It actually helps little ones learn the animal sounds.

I don't, but my husband does every time. He also whinnies at horses in the field. Strange man, I know. :hehee

There are some on the outskirts of Abq, right next to the dormant volcano. I often yell "she's gonna blow!" too! ha ha
