Know, you know, you know you are saved is a more appropriate thread title.
1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
Here is the Greek...
Everyone believing Jesus is the Christ has been born of God
Has = past tense. The reason you believe is because you have been born again. God says so, so I say so. Chew on that for awhile as you rest in Him.
Love in Christ

I have noticed this strange thing in the way John writes in his letters, 1 2 and 3 John. It does not happen in the Gospel of John. Sometimes I call it the cart before the horse in my own notes. It almost seems like his sentences could be understood better if you put the last clause first. Is that what you are takling about?
I even dug into it a little bit once, trying to find out more. It is a very real phenomenon, called by some scholars "The Johanine style. I don't know enough about Greek to be able to tell the tenses, but it shows up even in the English translated text.
Do you know ? Was your question to get us to respond, or were you asking, yourself?
If you know, please enlighten. If not, I'll try to dig up what I found on it once.

Oh, no question. I didn't even think about his writing style. For those that get harassed spiritually, and have doubts about their salvation, this is a very clear cut, and strikingly practical test of oneself. If you believe Jesus is the Christ, you're in. Of course we're talking here, the who (Christ) the why (for our sins) the what (the Resurrection). According to God here, it is impossible to believe Jesus is the Christ, and not be born again. I guess it was just revealed to me in a way that may very well be the best, and easiest test of one's self examination.
You know, you can read a passage 50 times, then on the 51st time, God shows it to you in a new light.

Yes , it's pretty amazing when that happens. Good verse. Especially in 1John :>)

Thank you for your posts. I was sorry to see the discussion ended b/t you and another poster about what repenting means and how we are not able to repent excpet in our hearts before we can repent or reject our current sins. This discussion always leaves me in tears on thsi board b/c I have always been tormented by thoughts of standing before Jesus and having Him say depart base don soem techincailty i wasnta ware of.....despite searching for it endlessley while on earth........A few posters on this board might suggest its b/c I am not saved and didnt repent ENOUGH.....shades of gray that can just send someone to the insane asylum. Tis true that Few will enter in but not b/c God did not make it easy to understand and a simple heart felt process but b/c they dont belive or refuse to..........I wish mods and othe rposters here woudl have some compassion and understand that this is a real struggle for some of us in our walk.........But i do belive some people here belive you must have repentd of all your sins before your are saved. I say that IMPOSSIBLE and if not show m ehow that happened for you! As we are not even aware of all our sin at the moment of salvation just that we are SINNERS, but God reveals our sin to us mercifully via sanctification and deals with us in His timimg. Thats what i understand. So thank you for posting this.....and for your earlier comments.....it meant alot and encouraged me in my faith and salvation.......instead of making me doubt it again.......Oh, no question. Seekingtruth1 - I have been compiling some of my very favorite bible verses to pour over any time I need them. If you have doubts, as we all sometimes do over something or another, I highly recommend writing/saving certain verses to go over when you feel the devil attacking you. When you say, "I wish mods and other posters here woudl have some compassion and understand that this is a real struggle for some of us in our walk.........", I couldn't agree more. We all need to encourage one another and I know the best way to do that is to share God's word. The book of Roman's will help you tremendously I believe. Here is one of my fav's for you:
Romans 4:13, 14, 15, 16 - For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of FAITH. For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect: Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression. Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all..."
And what is this promise?
Romans 3: 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 - Even the righteousnes of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference. For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
We must believe. We must believe that Christ is the only true way to our Heavenly Father. John 3:16 wraps it up nicely. Make a choice and stick to it. It's what I've had to do myself because I have wavered, I've doubted.
It's boils down to God's grace that is PROMISED to us who believe in his only Son. And you know what? If that's not true, it makes God a LIAR. And I know so deep in my bones that God is not a liar!!!
Much love and I pray that you will have peace and contentment in your walk with Jesus. I hope most fervently that this has helped you some!!! :-)
