We, therefore, the undersigned citizens of the United States, petition the U.S. Congress to act immediately to lower gasoline prices by authorizing the exploration of proven energy reserves to reduce our dependence on foreign energy sources from unstable countries.
You don't have to donate to sign the Petition!
We currently have 81,302 signatures.

You also need to build refineries. People don't want them in their backyards. Until the pain gets too great, expect more of the same.

Already, more than 140,000 people have signed the petition urging Congress to start drilling for oil domestically. Next week, it's our goal to deliver more than 250,000 signatures to the United States Senate as a first step toward stopping the destructive Warner-Lieberman bill which would raise the cost of gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, natural gas and coal.
Americans truly have a choice - a choice between paying more and sending more money to foreign dictators, or producing more oil domestically and paying less. I hope you'll forward this email update to your friends and family and ask them their choice, and encourage them to sign the petition and join this movement.

I signed it a few days ago too. You know the last major refinery built in the US was in Louisiana in 1976?

My brother had sent the link to me a few days ago, and I signed it earlier today. What really gripes me about those who don't want us to drill, but want us to get off our dependence on oil don't realize all the other products that require petroleum by-products of making gas:doh I mean, it's all sorts of plastics, fibers used for carpeting, fabric for material to make a lot of our clothes, etc. If the drilling had started back when Bill Clinton first vetoed it, we would have an additional source of oil. Granted, we also needed the refineries to process the oil, and the current refineries are working full tilt with minimal downtime for needed maintainence.

I can see the oil companies keeping the prices up and selling to China and India instead of helping Americans, it just seems like a way to lower our standard of living and lower our power and prestige in the world.
