Have fun with this one:

NANCY CHEMTOB, a divorce lawyer in Manhattan, has found that her days have become crammed seeing clients, all worried about how an economic downturn will affect their marriages. They seem to have nothing to fret about: their net worths range from $5 million to $1 billion.

I usually ignore articles like this because they're meaningless: it's all about getting a response from the reader and largely the individuals described are composites.

:preach Just remember: if it's in the newspapers it's pretty rare.

Excuse me if I can't muster up much empathy or sympathy for these people. Let them try living on the average American salary of around $40,000 a year and see how they fare. The rich are so out of touch with regular America. Not to change the subject, but I'm waiting to see how the down turning of our economy is going to affect those rich TV evangelists. Maybe old Kenneth Copeland won't be getting that second $20 mill private jet for his wife.

They need prayer. That's all. :)

I've wondered myself how churches will be effected. If times keep growing worse and worse, how will churches stay open? :idunno Already charities are suffering, and many ministries are suffering because people aren't able to give as much. This could happen in churches as well.

I do believe the Lord will deal with them, one way or another. I pray they all stop serving their money god, repent, and REALLY get to know JESUS.
If they have to lose everything they have for that to come about, so be it. If christian tv goes off the air, it might actually be a good thing.:nod

Hopefully they'd cut back on 'social programs' and just focus on spreading the Word. Our church is quite small, we meet at a home and a Holiday Inn and half the men are out of work. But the rest of us give and the funds that come in, go the help those in the fellowship who are struggling. Because we don't have a building and a bunch of other stuff we're trying to fund, we're able to focus directly on physical and spiritual needs.

Also, if they're really doing the work of God, He will support and provide the means neccessary to continue that work. But I really think Churches will need to start "trimming the fat" just as individual families have had to.

Whatever happens, it's all part of God's plan.
I think the church needs a rude awakening and this is why I believe IMHO things WILL get extremely uncomfortable before He calls us up. He loves us that much, that He'll perhaps say, "No candy or dessert! Now go to your room and think about what you did!"

i always figured that being rich wasn't all it was cracked up to be...(in addition to God's warnings to us about this).

also, in order to sell, there has to be a market.

i wonder who is buying all the gems they are selling? should *we* be watching the buyers? and who is buying all this gold that is selling these days?? and what are they doing with it???
