Help with DVD player

DD1 has an Apex DVD player that she got a couple of years ago with some of her money. Now it won't play any DVDs period, I have checked the connections & made sure that both the tv & dvd are plugged in. When I turn on the DVD it shows the Apex logo on the tv but doesn't play any videos. Can someone help?

It's possible it needs to be cleaned. You can purchase (and maybe rent from a video store?) a DVD that has little brushes on it - it is for cleaning the lens that reads the DVD. I would try that.

I assume that APEX was a cheap model.

If cleaning didnt help, then it probably just up and died. Not worth repairing when you can get a replacement for under $50.
