I will participate (not because I think it will bring about the rapture, or that it can/will in any way cause God to change his plans), but rather because it could be a worldwide event which celebrates our faith in Christ!

I agree with the many others that the rapture will occur when God decides it is time and not a nanosecond sooner.

Hopefully we wont have to wait until the 29th!

It will be interesting tho, to see how this pans out. I'm glad know about it, because if I didn't know, and heard shofars blowing around here I would think I'd been left behind!

What if people wanted to participate in this event not for what this article is about but to show their support and love for Israel on the opening day of one of their important times of the year? It would also be a great way to get your neighbors to ask questions :) We were blowing our shofars one night at my parents and my mom's neighbors probably thought we were crazy LOL

Why does everything regarding any SLIGHT mention of the return of Christ get blown out of proportion? WHY?

All that is happening is using our "modern global communication tools" (AKA internet) people all over the world are signing up to fill in all the timezones to celebrate a feast THAT ALREADY IS CELEBRATED BY MANY ALREADY....every year. That is what you do on the Feast of Trumpets...you blow the shofar. There is nothing new here. He is just trying to organize a fun global event.

Everybody starts talking about trying to "trick" Jesus into coming then, or that he is setting dates. Read his whole site and you will see he is not saying any of that. I get sick of this trend because threads constantly get closed because people can not read and/or control themselves. ugh. :ohno

I just saw this and wanted to see what you guys and gals thought about it.

The OP wanted to know what we thought. I opened the link and after reading the article and the linked story about NASA calender eclipses lining up with OT holy days, I was concerned.

For instance, in the NASA eclispe story, Biltz was quoted as saying: "Biltz was also asked about the famous statement in Matthew 24:36 when Jesus was discussing the signs of His "coming, and of the end of the world": "But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only." (Matthew 24:36)

He responded by referring to the annual Feast of Trumpets holiday, saying Israelites never knew the precise moment it began, "because it was based on the sighting of the new moon."

"When He (Jesus) says you won't know the day or the hour, He's telling you it's the Feast of Trumpets because that was known as the feast where no one knew the day or the hour that it would begin," said Biltz. "So it's kind of like if I told you, 'I'm not going to tell you when I'm coming, but "Gobble, gobble, gobble,'" [pointing to] Turkey Day."

That caused me to ponder what he believes.

Regarding this shofar event just being a fun celebration of the Feast of Trumpets, that would be great. Biltz stated that he wanted to announce to the Messiah that we are awake and anxiously anticipating His return. The article then says that Biltz suggests a rare string of eclipses said to fall on God's Holy Days 7 years from now could herald what's come to be known as Second Coming Of Jesus.

Since he further states that he doesn't believe Jesus' return will be a surprise to the Wise Virgins, then I get the feeling that he thinks he knows when Jesus will return. He doesn't mention the rapture in these two articles, and I haven't gone to his web site to see what his beliefs are, but my thoughts based on what I have read is that he picked this feast day because it falls 7 years before this last of 4 eclipse events in 2014-2015 jewish year time frame. That just sounds like he is pretty date focusd if you ask me, and the OP did ask for our thoughts.

An American pastor who made news in April by studying NASA's eclipse calendar to speculate on the return of Jesus Christ to Earth is now planning a worldwide blast of trumpets this fall to get God's attention.

Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries in Bonney Lake, Wash., is organizing the global "Day of Shouting" for the evening of Sept. 29, marking the annual biblical holiday known as the Feast of Trumpets.

The event is still in its early planning stages, with Blitz posting this invitation on his website:

You know how at sporting events they have "the wave" where one group starts it and then it cycles all the way around back to the beginning? Do you remember how at the year 2000 they showed on television all the New Year celebrations going on around the world as the new millennium began? ...

Let's have an around the world shofar assembly in every time zone on the Feast of Trumpets at sunset announcing to Messiah we are awake and anxiously anticipating His return. What a dress rehearsal! Won't that stir His heart?

We will list on our website all the cities in the different time zones that are participating and hopefully we can get people from every tongue, tribe and nation participating as we join in proclaiming Yeshua (Jesus) as our coming King!

A shofar is a trumpet-like instrument made from the horn of a ram or other biblically clean animal, and was sounded not only at the new year and new moons, but also as a call to wake up and repent.

I don't think we're supposed to be looking at moon phases or biblical holidays. There is mention in the bible of people looking at the sky in the morning or at night to determine the weather, but God is God over all. When Jesus told us to be watchful, He didn't mention the sky or its contents. I just don't buy into the full moon quarter moon new moon thing. Sounds too Myan. I will be awaiting His return. I am willing to bang a pan in recognition of that before men. As a public profession to others who are not God fearing and watching that there are MANY of us awaiting. But then again, what would that do?
