You won't know how much this has encouraged me today! Thank you Chris.
:) :hug
We are getting close to things being all fulfilled. How close we can't pinpoint, but we do know the season is here. Since Israel has been reborn in the land, many prophecies have been fulfilled and there are a good many that have finally been put into place to happen. Jesus told us when all these things began to happen, to look up, that our redemption was drawing nigh!! Keep watching, stay sober and awake, the Lord is coming!!! :thumb :yeah :yeah

My biggest fear is I will be sinning at the time of the rapture. I know that all future sins are forgiven at the time you give your life over to Christ, but it would still be a terrible thing to happen IMO.
I am a child of Christ, like you. But I know that I have my flaws,(sins) my heart is to Him. God knows me, and He knows you. He formed you before you were in your mothers womb. He knows we are not perfect. But He loves us anyway. He chose you, before you chose Him. I still ask for forgiveness everyday, I love the Lord, but still sometimes sin. He is still the forgiver! Pm me. :hug

I feel uneasy about setting a "deadline" for Christ's Second Coming or the Rapture; God has His own timetable and will come when He wills it.
The only deadline that means anything is Gods timeline:wave

I thought I read that Israel would be without walls and also rich, I cant remember the exact quote. Has anyone else read that? I dont like date setting either. But with the condition of the world, I've seen such changes in my lifetime! I grew up with innocent tv shows (Gilligans Island, etc.) tv is almost unbearable now! But I do believe we are seeing the end times unfold right before our eyes!

I have always heard it is a 70 year generation from 1948.
I always assumed it was on the Gentile calandar since HE is coming back for the Gentiles right?:thinking
Well, I would think he'd do things according to the Jewish calendar, because from what we've seen everything else has been done according to it. And if the "main events" really do correlate to the Biblical feasts (i.e. Jesus dying on Passover, being raised on Firstfruits), and if we assume that God will continue to follow that pattern (i.e. - Rapture on Trumpets, Second Coming on Yom Kippur, etc.), then I'd assume that even counting generations would be from the Jewish calendar perspective. Even if it does coincide with the Feast of Trumpets, that feast is two days long, and we don't know what year He's coming for us, and the days the Feast is on change every year on the Gentile calendar - So obviously there's still no way we'd know the day. :lol2
But God's pattern in everything seems to go by the Jewish calendar, and I can't imagine that changing just because the Church is separate from His dealings with the Jewish people. Even the coming of the Holy Spirit came on Pentecost.

Well, there are many threads here that discuss the issue, so I won't go into great detail here, but it could be argued that Israel already meets those "requirements" of sorts. Israel is already quite wealthy, especially compared to her neighbors. And people have said that if you look at the original manuscripts, that the passage about "walls" means that they will be dwelling "securely" in their land, which can to an extent be seen now (a poll of Jews both in Israel and from other parts of the world showed that a majority of them believe that Israel is the safest place for them to be right now).
That aside, Israel continues to work toward peace deals with the Palestinians and with neighbors (I think I saw an article yesterday that said they were close to one with Syria...). Also, Zion Oil is to begin drilling next month, and if they strike a large oil pocket then we could easily see why Gog would want to invade Israel to take a spoil. Oil is THE key resource to have in this age.
As for the condition of the world, I have to agree. How it has changed in even the past five years is amazing, and not in a good way. I think on the news I hear every day, people's attitudes toward God and in general, the hate that exists on the planet, and I too cannot imagine it being much longer before Jesus returns for us.

I tend to think it was right around 70 years. Christ was born and then died and then the Temple was destroyed in 70AD as he predicted which was within 70 years from his birth. I think this is what was meant by all the 1st coming prophecies happening within a 70 year generation if this is indeed correct. jmho. :idunno
it may also be interesting to see that Jesus said this around 30-33 AD....would that therefore give around a 40 year definition? Just wondering....

Here's another way I look at it...
Those people who abuse their bodies with cigarettes. Do they die right away? No-however, they don't have very long life spans(most die at around 60).
Pt being that we're at a point now where this world has been abused, majorly, by sin. Not just in the last few years, but the last few decades, where it's gotten progressively worse, especially in recent years.
Anyhow-something like this could very well shorten the life span of a generation.

I have also heard people quote passages that seem to suggest a rapture "harvest/reaping" for the gentiles then we live 1,000 years with Christ on earth.
The are also passages that suggest a rapture for Christians so God will punish the inhabitants of the earth. I've heard both, but since this is a pre-tribulation message board we usually discuss the latter.
