He's racing like a has been. How long before he gets a new crew chief?
Even with a 43rd place finish, Kyle Busch still leads. It's an interesting year.
Junior is hanging in there. A win can't be far off.

I'm a bit puzzled...maybe it's just a 'new dad slump'. I've proudly been a Gordon fan for as long as I have been watching the sport, and it's tough watching right now. Yet, he remains firmly in the Chase so far. Perhaps a perfectly timed peak is the order for this season?
I don't foresee a crew chief change, not in the position he is in now- still. I'm holding out for things to start clicking around either August 23rd or October 19th. ;) ;)
So long as he is in the Chase after Homestead, this "low profile" stint can go on as long as necessary. No worries. Even Dale had his "drive through the desert".

I didn't like Gordon for a time. Then I heard a clip of his talk at a Promise Keepers event. I started liking him. Then he cheated on his wife, and I've been less of a fan.

Let's be careful before we pick up stones...we only got a small piece of the story, and only one side of it.
Besides, if he did, he is just as forgiven as you or me for our transgressions, slips, improprieties, etc.

I dug into it the best I could since I was a fan and it bothered me. I'm pretty well convinced that it was his fault. These things never occur in a vacuum, but even if she was a controlling whacko, there's no excuse. When asked about it, his response was that you should get a pre-nuptial agreement.
When he got re-married, he did say that he believed he was better prepared to be a husband this time.
But where is his faith? He talked about it plenty before the problems, but nothing now. Was it just at his wife's insistence before, or was it real?
I still like to watch him race, but my enthusiasm definitely cooled.

Hmmm...it's probably a good thing your enthusiasm has cooled, at least concerning people. I think we need more of that, collectively. I would certainly hate to be any kind of public figure, that my past- or any part of my life- were scrutinized, especially concerning my faith.
Trying to live Christ-like is hard. It makes the promise of mercy and forgiveness that much more precious. I too have wondered what the status of his walk is...is he backslidden from the success? Is he living it more quietly to avoid the scrutiny? It's hard to say...
I'm trying to make such a marked improvement in myself and my judgmental attitude toward people. We all do it, whether we admit it or not. I am trying so hard to remember what I was when I asked perfect Jesus to accept me. That is a sobering thought.

I'm a Hendrick fan and I say there's Politics in Nascar. Jeff and Jimmie are avoiding being BOOED by sandbagging, yet staying in the chase, They're doing thier best to get Jr, in the winners Circle. Kyle Bush is out to prove They Messed Up by getting rid of Him in Exchange for Jr. I can't wait for the chase to begin. Jimmie's going for 3 in a row, Just watch.

I love Tony Stewart and Kyle Bush. Never have liked Jeff Gordon but I do have respect for his partner, Jimmy Johnson. When I watch a race and Dale Jr. is in 23rd place at the end and all the attention is focused on him, that turns me off Jr. As a person I like Jr. but there is way too much camera time this guy has. Jeff Gordon and being a father has somewhat interfered with his racing it seems. I am sure he will be back soon, just as I am sure Tony will be back in the last half this year.

I have respect for all of them. Doing what they do...a split second from death...
Kyle, is just a phenom. Potentially- he shows signs of the being the best driver to ever get behind the wheel...even more so than Tim Richmond. The next successor to the Petty crown? Way huge upside potential...stratospheric.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hendrick Motor Sports was doing a little experimenting with their car setups. Gordon did well under the old points system. From what I remember, he would have at least one or two more championships if the old system was in place. So, now that he finds himself with the race for the chase, it allows his team to do some experimenting to find the right setup for those last ten races so long as he stays in the top 12. Don't be surprised if he makes a late season run. At the beginning of the season, either Johnson or Gordon said they would have to take some chances this year and do some things differently if they wanted to win the championship this year.
