Wow. I don't even know where to put this post.

I just have to write about what I am feeling right now. My heart is so heavy. I feel the need to go and buy waters and other non-perishable things. Am I crazy? I feel like I need to prepare. I am watching the destroyed homes in WI right now on CNN. Last night I was watching CNN (which I really hate watching but do anyways sometimes..) and the silly guy was spewing pro Obama everywhere. You would think Obama has paid the media to sell him. If anyone has read the Left Behind series, I felt like I was a part of that! e.g. Watching a govt controlled news station spewing lies. At one point, the guy goes "and the Israeli defense man who said attacking Iran is unavoidable..that should raise a few eyebrows.."
I thought, what about what Ahmadinajad has been saying about blowing us and Israel off the map, that shouldn't raise your eyebrows?
How blind are these people? The headlines earlier on Yahoo were about Floods, earthquakes, famine in Ethiopia..I can't remember what else.

My heart is so heavy this is so hard to watch.

Seriously, am I crazy to want to stock pile food for my family? If I told my DH that is what I am doing he would truly think I am off my rocker. Maybe I just need more Faith in God? I have faith, I just wonder if it is wavering, or if He is telling me to get ready for something big..:idunno

:) No you are not crazy. Just be sure that you are not reacting from fear or panic, but rather from the prompting of the Holy Spirit to be like Joseph and put away some for the hard times ahead. Many on this board have felt led to store enough to get them through a certain period of time. Many others have felt led to not stock up but rather trust God to provide. I don't think there is a right or wrong to this issue. I think each of us may face somewhat different circumstances so we are led to do different things to prepare. Some who feel they should not stock up may end up having to suddenly evacuate without taking any belongings, or they may have access to supplies when they need them. Others of us who have stocked up will probably need to have these supplies for our own use, to share with our community, or they will be used by new believers after the Rapture. Pray about it first, then you may be surprised if your husband is in agreement with you. My DH surprised me by being in full agreement to stocking up. We have about 3-4 months of bare essentials. :shocked Above all trust in Him first!:hug

What you are thinking seems very reasonable considering what is happening. I definately agree about the media. It does seem like it is controlled by some government. It is certainly not fair and unbiased.

Still, there is no reason to be afraid because God is still in control.

I just wanted to add that I share your sadness and concern when I watch the news. It is natural and right that we should feel this way when seeing all the destruction and misery rampant in our world. I know you are not expressing a lack of faith, just very grave concerns over what this world is coming to. If you do decide to stock up there are many threads dicussing various preparations. IMHO I think everyone should have at least a week's worth of basics and first aid supplies. That is just wisdom!

I have a slightly different take on this urge to prepare, and I will try to explain it. I have also felt this way for a long time, even before I was a Christian. At first this was prompted because of living in a hurricane-prone area, then due to economics and risk of civil unrest. Later, these promptings deep within me seemed to fit within the Christian lifestyle as well.

In 2004, I survived a direct hit from a tornado that was a leader from a hurricane. Then, the storms came one after another until I about wanted to give up.

I realized that working to prepare was not only practice for what eventually occurred but was also giving me some measure of choices. At least for a time, I could choose whether I wanted to stand in line or not for rations, which sometimes wasn't a very safe thing for a single girl like myself to do. I could choose whether I wanted to sit in the dark or not, because I had plenty of light sources. I could also choose how I wanted to defend my property and myself, because I had other options.

I will also say that preparations without knowledge is a losing battle. If you are going to go to the time, expense and effort to store food and water, then please be sure you have a way to cook, wash and provide for basic hygiene should any part of the infrastructure (electric, heat, phone, water, garbage pickup) be disrupted.

In the event we finally reach the day of world reckoning, we won't be here! We will have been raptured!!!! Praise God for our eternal life. I don't waste my money or time setting aside supplies for the end times. God will provide all we need until that glorious day He calls us home. Thank you Jesus for your mercy!

I too see things changing around us and people all over the world that are facing disease, famines, disasters, starvation and death. I do understand this is the birth pains, they will get stronger as we move closer.

I do not like to see people suffer but God once remind me, that if it caused me this much pain to see a stranger in agony how much pain did he have for his beloved creation.

The only thing I can do is to hold on to the promise and put all my faith in him. Yes, I have stocked up some, only because of his prompting and his provisions he has supplied us. If its for us, I don't know or some stranger, I don't know.

:thinking Perry Stone was just on tv and said he had a vision concerning trouble with oil and said to get ready for some problems. Advised to stock up some supplies. I don't know if what he says is true or not. What do you think ?? :idunno

Fact is we are having a major oil crisis, which I believe has been created for specific reasons. We are in for more problems not only concerning oil but companies cutting back due to overhead costs, food prices soaring and the dollar is falling.

As of right now, I would be thankful for what God has provided for us in this country, shelter, clean water, medical care and food. I would use what he has given us wisely and praise him. Stocking up, if lead then do it. You never know the rapture could happen and some very lost people may wind up in your house to feed themselves and stumble upon some spiritual food too :o)

As I stated earlier I was lead to stock up, Joseph preparing for the famine has come to my mind many times.
