I just want to spread the word about a nationwide Christian scouting group called American Heritage Girls. My daughters joined last fall and last night was their Court of Honor (annual end-of-year awards ceremony). It's an awesome organization that instills Godly values in the girls while focusing on community service. It's growing like crazy and we have really enjoyed it.

I'm gonna check it out. I've not heard anything about it in our area. We tried Girl Scouts and hated, hated, hated it. It was a horribly run organization. Thanks for the link.

I just checked the link and there are no troops anywhere close to us. It seems daunting and expensive to start a troop as well. I would really love for my daughters to be able to be in this.

Thanks for posting. My 8 year old has expressed an interest in joining Girl Scouts, but I'm leary because of their affiliation to Planned Parenthood. There is an Heritage Girls troop in our area, but it's almost an hour away.

We've tried 3 different girl scout troops over the last 4 years. I made them sit it out last year. None of the 3 were any good. They never did anything, went anywhere, learned anything. In addition to that, one of the troops had "morally defunct" I'll say, leaders. We quit halfway through that time.
I would love to get my girls in AHG, but like I said no troops anywhere close by. I looked on their site about starting your own troop, but it looks complicated.

Unfortunately, the troops aren't plentiful enough yet. We drive 30 mins each way to ours.

Not all the chapters are associated with planned parenthood, but I would rather not having anything to do with an organization that allows chapters to act independently that way, without any recourse. IMO, any chapter that associates with planned parenthood is representative of the entire organization.

NWO I agree! No GS for us! I also wanted to add another group that is good, it is called Keepers at Home. We are going to do this program in the fall.
