My son Gabriel, was diagnosed as a type1 diabetic on 2/3/06, and so it's been a rough year, trying to maintain his blood sugars, limiting his diet (he's 8, so that's tough). My wife and I have had our ups and downs, certainly frustration with the entire thing....personally, I wish I was the one with diabetes and not my son. However, the Lord has allowed this for some reason. Anywho, my praise is that my son recently got an insulin pump! We're still wrestling with figuring it all out (it's been about a week), but I think it'll help tighten his blood sugars, and bring his A1C's down. Plus, he's thrilled because it means no more insulin injections :yeah He still has to test his blood sugar, but he's cut out up to 8 injections a day!

that is wonderful.
my gf's dd was just diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. she isn't quite three years old yet. she spent two days in the hospital while they ran tests and got her sugars down (they were over 400--i think she said 438 or something!).

she is being a trooper, though, with 5x a day testing the bs's and four injections of insulin a day.
i agree, God allows these things for a reason, even when we don't know.

So glad your son has a pump now and will be able to have a tiny bit of 'normalcy' back in his life!

My daughter has T1D. She's 9 and has been diagnosed for 10 months. She's been pumping with a Cozmore for 7 months now and we'd never go back to shots! PM me if you want to discuss anything T1D related! Congrats on the pump!
