Online Evangelism and other craziness

I recently took an idea from a stray comment made on Way of The Master Radio......

What about fulfilling the Great Commission this way..... set up a membership on an online discussion board, and start threads with nothing but the Gospel message?

You could use something pre-written. For example, I used a document with Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, and Ephesians 2:8-9 that I typed up from the NIV. The cut-n-paste functions help a lot as well. I then put this in my forum 'signature' on a forum where I used to spend a good portion of my time. by putting this in my signature, I just put the Gospel message on about 390 forum posts.

I can then, if I choose, do a 'bump'. this is just a 'post reply' meant to get my signature out there.

That's all good and well for the boards where someone has an established profile, but what about forums where one isn't established????

Easy. Just sign up for a forum membership, fill out your signature with the Gospel, and Bump like crazy.......

I went to the boards on a website for HERO Games, where I used to go a LOT. I plan to go to other secular sites as well.

incidentally, has this idea caught on? anyone else trying this?
When I did this at herogames.com BB, within 30 minutes, I was already catching flak, not for 'bumping', but for what I was saying. Clearly, a sign of encouragement.

Oh yeah, I definitely have ruffled some feathers from posting the gospel on Oprah.com and another site. They get pretty mad and try to gang up on me. But then I get people who email me privately and say 'thank you' for coming here!!!

I constantly give links and sermons links too so they can listen to the gospel and read stuff.

This is a fantastic idea and one thing I like to do too!!!

I've been posting on secular boards for quite some time now. I think it is a great way to reach the lost. There are so many people out there who do forums or boards or blogs, you name it. Besides the street, this is another great way to evangelize. I think it also helps people who want to witness who don't want to necessarily do it face to face because maybe you get a little more nervous in those situations.

I know one guy on here tried posting the gospel in a Dodge message board I belong to but it got deleted quick. I think that was because he was new and the mods thought he was a spammer. There is a group of Christians on this board and they let us post stuff like that because we're established members. But I might add a couple of links to my sig. I did post all three of the links that Amy listed in out "God Squad" thread for the others to use
