I know some may not think gluttony as big a sin as some others out there but it was a HUGE problem for me. Before I was born again Christian, I was active and healthy. Once I became a Christian, some sins that held me in bondage were immediately broken. But then I developed another... gluttony. I gained a lot of weight and the more I tried to lose it, the more it came on.

I found myself in a vicious cycle. I would get depressed about my weight. That led me to drink alcohol which led to the munchies which led me to depression which led me back to alcohol and around and around I went. It has kept me from being active in many activities and social events because I just felt disgusting.

I have been praying for years to have this sin broken and taken away from my life to no avail. I just recently changed my prayers and what I was praying for. Instead of asking for the sin to be removed and to have power over it, I started to ask for the fruits of the spirit. Especially for self control. I must have been asking for the wrong thing. I dropped 10 pounds and still dropping. My craving for food is gone. My craving for bad food is gone to. The smell of sweets turns my stomach. The smell of alcohol makes me ill. My energy has gone through the roof and I'm feeling great and no longer have cravings.

I'm hoping this praise may encourage others who may have similar issues. Try changing out your prayer. Maybe it will work and maybe not but it worked for me.

THANK YOU JESUS - I AM FINALLY FREE!!!!!!! :yeah http://dingo.care2.com/c2c/emoticons/cheerleader.gif

I have gotten so discouraged I would pray for the Lord to take my appetite away, then I would think maybe that's not such a good idea. Yours is better.
