in security officer training. Boy, was that something! Yesterday I got hit directly in the face with OC pepper spray. Two of the worst events of my life -- and it'll probably be on youtube soon since our instructor is twisted and made sure he video taped it all. :aha

Anywho, I will learn CPR and First Aid tomorrow and will be certified next week. Is CPR difficult easy to remember in one day or do I need to study tonight?

I wouldn't study. They will go over the steps with you and then you'll do CPR on a dummy.
You should be able to practice before you do it for skills testing.

If you study before hand on your own or if you don't have the correct study manual you could get mixed up on some of it, then just have to relearn it all tomorrow.
They change the recommendations so often that it's hard to know what they will recommend tomorrow.

God Speed to you! You'll do great!

Studying is never wasted. The most forgotten thing when people are testing for CPR is they forget to say to the tester, "Checking for scene safety", and "I have my gloves on". Those are the first two things when you walk into the testing room! Have fun in your class, I was an officer for seven years in a casino, and doubled as the EMT on staff. Just when I would say, "I think I've seen it all", I would see something else..Those were the days :hat

Well, I'm guessing you will find CPR much easier than either being hit in the face with pepper spray or tased!

It's very easy to learn, but difficult to remember over time. I learned it, but honestly can't remember how many chest compressions per minute. Short-term, its all very easy though.

I've never been tased, but compliments of military training and police offer training I experienced tear gas a dozen times or so... never did care much for it.

I would guess that pepper spray could be fairly unpleasant...

For me, getting sprayed directly in the face with OC pepper spray was WORSE than the CS gas chamber in Army BCT. I handled the gas chamber better than everybody in my platoon. But pepper spray -- let's just say it wasn't a kodak moment. I wasn't able to open my eyes for about two hours. Honestly, it felt like a preview of hell. :tsk

The taser was pretty horrible too, but it only lasted for five seconds.

How you describe the pepper spray is about as bad as I expected. You can use your mind to work through the cs gas but I just couldn't imagine the horror of choking down pepper spray into the lungs and eyes... It's bad enough when one little granule of pepper goes down the wrong pipe...

LOL, my mom urged me to say that while I was getting tased. Ha, I couldn't get two words out during the actual event. The worst five seconds of my life. I'll be careful when pulling it on others now that I know what it feels like.
