$3.59 for a sourdough round at my Publix!!! Seems like it goes up about a dime a week. What are y'all paying for your bread (meaning the ones who buy and don't bake their own)?

regular white bread is clost to $2 here...I caught it on sale 10/$10 and stocked up.
Other than that we started a sourdough start about 2 weeks ago. Best bread ever, but still perfecting it. That costs...oh...30 cents or so per loaf.

I pay $ .99 for 20 oz. loaf of wheat bread at Aldi's here in central NY. Wonder how long that will last?

I pay about $2.50 for Nature's Own all Natural or Organic bread. I won't buy anything that uses corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup, which means I pay a little more for bread.

I paid 1.79 for a loaf of Wonder bread at Walgreens here in the DFW area. I usually make my own though.

I buy all my bread from the bread store and dont remember how much i paid but it is cheaper and just as good as grocery store bread. If your looking to save some cash I would visit your local bread store.

Our prices have been going up as well. I am so grateful to those who participated in the Sour Dough Bread thread, all the good advice, because my starter is perfectly ready to be made- and the cost was SO low! :yay

It's only been recently that it struck me how many "bread" runs I make to the store! :doh Now that gas is so expensive I've been trying to make every trip really count and I just didn't realise how easy it was to just run out for a few loaves of bread or hot dog buns. Not so anymore. :tsk I am also very thankful for the sourdough thread as well as others on here that have helped me get some good bread recipes. :thumb

:agree
I eat Ezekiel Bread, which also costs a little more. But it's a lot healthier...and a lot more filling, too, which saves money in the long run!

I dislike "sweet" bread. I think it ruins whatever sandwich meat you put on it, so I only buy sourdough. I've been freezing mine, and they thaw out just fine. The crust may get a little chewy, but that doesn't bother me a bit.
I think I'll investigate that sourdough thread. The idea kind of intimidates me, with the starter and all. The only kind of bread I've ever baked is banana bread.
