In searching the web, I can't find anymore of a recent article than from 2006 about their "suicide seeds". At that point I believe Monsanto bought the company that was doing the research and development. My question is, are farmers yet being forced to use these seeds as of now, or is it still in development?

They are pure evil. My dad is dying a slow, miserable death thanks to Monsanto.

Are you talking about Round-Up ready beans ? They changed the genetics so that the bean will take a spraying of Round-Up without harming the bean plant. They are now working or Round-Up Ready Corn seed.

Monsanto is evil. I agree. If one is not familiar with what they are doing, that probably sounds like a strange statement. Before you decide to reject it as ridiculous or whatever, do some research on Monsanto.

I will have to see if I can find it again, but I believe that the 'suicide seeds' are being used, at least on an experimental basis, in Iraq. The U.S. bombed the snot out of their seed supply (maybe the seeds looked like wmd's?) and no bid contracts were given to Monsanto to supply seed to the Iraqi farmers because the farmers only had something like 4% of what they needed. I think this is all tied into Iraqi Order #81. I'll see what I can find and post it here. Monsanto is guaranteed huge sales annually because those seeds are GE (genetically engineered) to grow once for the farmer but the seed from the crop won't grow again the next year. It's sorta kinda like mules ... they come from a female horse and a male donkey but cannot reproduce so if you want more mules, you have to keep breeding the donkeys and horses.

This isn't the first time I have heard of these seeds, although I didn't know the name of them.

It is purely evil. It forces farmers to put in a seed order every single year instead of being able to take seeds from the year before to plant -- talk about controlling the food supply!

Your right. We used to save our soybeans seeds every year untill we were forced to used the Round Up Ready Bean Seed. They have the right to test our fields or take samples to see if we are using last years seed instead of buying new. If we get caught, then we have to pay a fine.

They are now trying to force us to use the Round Up ready Corn Seed.
Monsanto makes money from us having to buy seed from them every year, and money from the Round Up.

All seed is generic altered, its just not going on in other countries, its here and people just don't know it. Thats about all the farmers plant now.

This link (http://www.alternet.org/waroniraq/62273/) to an article will give you many terms to google. Also, if you go to youtube.com and search "terminator seed" or "suicide seed" plus monsanto, etc., you will find many videos about this. I will be gone shortly for the rest of the day and evening ... hoping to find what others are thinking.

Wow; I had no idea that seeds nowadays were all like that; so they never produce seeds that grow themselves? that's probably one reason more farmers are going out of business, too, and that prices are rising.

Is there a way for home gardeners to replant the seeds fromw hat they grow? Or, are prettymuch all seeds these genetically egineered "mule seeds"? (Thanks for the analogy, Isaachar, that really helps to explain things.)
