Yesterday I was at the store buying Tuna. The little "6oz" cans of tuna were on sale, individually, for .72 each. They had the same size cans wrapped in plastic, making a 4 pack for $3.00, which is actually .12 cents more BUT....when I was checking the labels on the cans, the individual cans said "6 oz Tuna"; the 4 pack which I thought was the same but packaged for convenience that way...those cans said 4-6 oz!!!!! Mind you, the can sizes are the same...SO, before you buy the convenience packages of tuna, verify the oz. first.

I have a friend who buys a certain brand of gluten-free cereal. She told me yesterday that she's always paid about $4.50 for a box, and the prices now are over $6.00. She said that she's through buying it, and will move onto something else.
Sad. Who's going to buy all of those $6 boxes of cereal???

Why don't the cereal companies just reduce the size of the boxes, which is mostly air and more for marketing, keep the same amount of cereal in the smaller boxes as they had before and charge the same price. They will be saving money buy using fewer materials to produce the packaging, and can pass that savings onto the consumer.

New World Order - that sounds like a viable solution, but it's likely that their machines in the factory were built to specific specifications, and they'd have to redo all the machinery, and dies etc which would actually be very costly.

We don't buy cereal or pre-made mixes for biscuits or pancakes. It cost too much money and isn't near as good as what you can make at home from scratch! We make muffins, pancakes, waffles, grits and eggs, oatmeal and sausage and biscuits. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and cereal just doesn't cut it! So jack up them prices and Mom's go back to making stuff from scratch in the kitchen. Your husband and children will thank you for it!

I like to eat cereal sometimes, when I'm not in the mood for a big breakfast. Sometimes my kids don't want a big breakfast, and a bowl of cereal is just right.

Here's a cereal tip. Look at the very bottom shelf where you find the cereal in bags. Those are less expensive than the boxed type and you get more.

Hi. I hope this doesn't come out the wrong way, but I thought I would explain my position a bit clearer. :)
My husband and I (no children) both cook quite a bit from scratch. Most of what we cook for lunch and dinner, we use fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. Breakfast is usually any combination of fruit, yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal. But even when baking from scratch, I am used to a box of powdered sugar, package of cream cheese, stick of butter or whatever ingredient I am using working for a recipe that calls for an entire package of X ingredient. I think the whole point is that I would rather the prices increase as much as they need to, just as long as they keep the size of the packages the same. I'll still pay for it either way, and won't have to deal with buying extra to make up the difference.

Yeah, but the Kellogg's Frosted Flakes aren't as good at all as generic.
Blah.
I just won't buy cereal. A box lasts me a month or so.
Maybe 1 bowl a week, for an afternoon snack or dessert.
Never for breakfast as I don't eat it.
More meat and eggs for me.
