If Spam sales are up, I wonder about Treet. It's cheaper (.99 at Walmart) and pretty much the same taste as Spam. I haven't checked the ingredients, but I'll put that on my to-do list. I love the stuff but stay away from it because of the fat content. I did notice they now have a lite version of Treet. :D

Some 40 years ago we would take the new pledges out after midnight on a spam hunt. With only a pillow case and a spatula, they each had to stay out until they captured at least 2 spams. With the assistance of 2 or 3 brothers to cause a commotion as they sighted these speedy, slippery little creatures of the night and helped fill the bags (spam minus the can), the pledges all managed to catch their limit. Unfortunately, the spam had been opened 3 or 4 weeks earlier and had a pretty "wild" odor to it. The pledges had to sleep with their catch in their bed to keep them from escaping, not being allowed to look to see how many they caught until the next morning when the catches were tallied and prizes awarded.
Father, forgive me, for I have spammed... :pray

We did that with rocks and called it snipe hunting. To this day I have my husband convinced their are really furry animals running around in the woods called snipes:madgrin

I like SPAM cut thin and fried.
"I'll have your spam. I love it. I'm having spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, spam, baked beans, spam, spam, spam and spam!"

OMG! My daddy use to take me and my girlfriends hunting for snipes! He would lead us out to "where they lived" and give us each a brown paper bag to catch them in!! :pound :pound That brings back so many memories! How fun! Of course at the time I was "scared to death" and we had to find our way back home in the dark alone--:tapfoot
Gee I can't imagine hunting for smelly spam :tsk

What are the primary nutrients in SPAM? uhhhmmmm
Calories 180 Calories from Fat 140
% Daily Value *
Total Fat 16g 25%
Saturated Fat 6g 30%
Cholesterol 40mg 13%
Sodium 790mg 33%
Total Carbohydrate 1g 0%
Dietary Fiber 0g 0%
Sugars 0g
Protein 7g
So Spam is mostly - FAT!
Kind of of like eating a scoop of Crisco with a very small lean protein portion on the side. :aha
To qualify as a protein source as one of my six daily meals, I would need to eat three servings (only 21 g protein) with a whopping 48 g fat. :doh
Think I'll stick to a lean chicken breast with some avocado on the side :yeah
