Seriously thinking of getting an iMac soon.

My windows days are coming to a close...

Just wondering how an iMac compares to a PC?

I have an older iMac and I like OS X (probably the only reason I would buy another Mac), but they are expensive. I can put together a faster PC that's upgrade friendly (graphics card, CPU or whatever else fits in a card slot) for a lot less money. And if I so decide, I can even get a bigger monitor. With the iMac, you can upgrade the memory and probably hard drive, but that's pretty much it...if you need to upgrade, you have to purchase another iMac when they put out the faster models.

They are generally reliable, there are less virii out there to worry about and not as many hackers bother to exploit the weaknesses in the OS because the user base is smaller...which is another good reason to own one if you have that sort of problem using Windows.

GO FOR THE MAC! :aha

Seriously, I have used both Macs and PC's and Mac is the best. (Of course, I am into graphics- so it's the best choice for me anyways) Well worth the price as I have owned 5 Mac laptops and never had one break down on me....

Currently I use a MacBook Pro and hubby uses a Powerbook. We love them! :thumb

Have you tried Ubuntu? You'll get all the bling and security of OS X with none of the eye-watering price tag.

Years and years and years ago, when I got out of college, I wanted a Mac. They had the Motorola 68000 processor, which I wanted to program (in assembly). But, the darned things were too expensive. So, I built a PC. And I accumulated software. Lots of it.

By the time I could afford a Mac, I had more $ in software than I had in hardware. So, I built another PC.

I guess this hasn't changed much.

Thank you. I can't wait till I get it.

I went to the local Apple retailer and they had a 20 inch iMac on display.

Oh. my.

I was just blown away by the size of the 20 inch! Can't imagine what the 24inch is going too look like!

Also the iMovies! :shocked The quality of the videos are so astounding! It's like real life..just reach and touch it!

Oh, I can't wait to explore my new iMac. I may not be here at RR, cause I be enjoying my iMac to much! :heh

Why did I wait so long to get an Apple! :doh

I remember when the Macintoshes came out in the 80's?. Wrote a paper on it in college. That was too much fun! lol
