Of course there is moral decay. Its been there ever since Eve ate the forbidden fruit. But the point is that we are better off in more ways today that we are worse off than the "old days."
I look for the rapture and I believe in pre trib. But many want things to be really bad, thinking that will bring about the rapture.
Then let some preacher dare preach about happiness or joy and the gloves come off as people expect gloom, despair and agony and don't want anyone trying to see the good in this life.
As for moral decay, we are still a far cry from the days of Noah, Sodom and Gomorrah or the Roman Empire in its hey day. Life is great if one knows Jesus and receives the peace that passes all understanding.
Each day that passes without the rapture is another day in which many come to accept Jesus, or at least have the opportunity to do so.
I'd rather wait a bit longer and let the bride increase.
Life is as we see it. Some look up and see the stars while others look down and see the dirt.
My "father's day" does hold some good memories. But would I want to go back and live in those times. No way!!

Cameron during the time of Sodom and Gomorrah and the Roman Empire there were roughly one million people alive at that time in the world take that times 6700! That is what it is today, in 1970 roughly 3.9 Billion today 6.7 Billion. We have many cities all over the world today that are worse or on a par with Sodom and Gomorrah. Over 150,000 people die in some fashion every day, that makes 1.78 deaths per second how many of them believed in the forgiving gift of Grace offered by Jesus Christ?:idunno Staggering thought!:ohno The problem with most Church's today is they preach too much about happiness and joy they like to tickle your ears to keep butts in the seats.:nod It is the shear volume of it that is overwhelming.:shocked I do not know of anyone who reads scripture that wants it to be real bad to bring on the Rapture only those people ignorant of God's Word would think that way.:)

11. People's word mean't something, they had respect for each other.
12.Neighborhoods were safe, children could leave the house(Parents wouldn't worry)
13. One could go to the neighborhood park and sleep on a blanket on a warm Summer night. Now they have a 10pm. curfew.
14. Few used illegal drugs.
15. Front porches were large, accommodating the family.
16. It was unusual, one not believing in God.
17. Hollywood was family oriented.
18. Schools Prayed, and displayed the 10 Commandments
19. In Missouri they didn't go to the store to buy, they went to the store to "trade".
Here's an interesting anecdote.
I've got a case right now that has required me to go and do research in the North Carolina State Archives in Raleigh, specifically in the papers of Governor Broughton, who was governor during WWII. I needed to look through his correspondence regarding the US Navy during that period.
One of the interesting things I found (but wasn't looking for) was a letter to Gov. Broughton from the Secretary of the Navy. It was thanking the governor for all of his efforts "to fight the scourge of syphilis" which was rampant among US Navy personnel during WWII. Specifically, it thanked the governor for cracking down on laws against prostitution statewide. The letter said that while some states only crack down on prostitution in communities near Naval bases, North Carolina had cracked down on prostitution statewide, making it harder for sailors to contract syphilis while they were on longer shore leaves and could get further into the state.
I thought the letter was priceless, because it disproves this Pollyannish image of a moral and righteous America in "the Good Old Days." Here we were, in the middle of a world war, and the Secretary of the Navy was worried about rampant syphilis among the sailors.

Not so; the war wasn't on our homeland as you know, and this one example of STD's does not in anyway disprove what johnbmcginnis stated. (All it shows is a moral decay of men put in an impending death situation.)
All of his examples are true. There is no way you could convince me that STD's were more rampant then, than today. We even have medications to treat most, but the rates of infections for dozens of diseases keep on climbing, due to the continued moral decay of our people.
The joy of the Lord is our only hope and strength. I don't see why many say we are all "doom and gloom"??? It's the complete opposite. We know the Truth because of what Christ has said, and we can have joy in our hearts no matter what conditions we face; it's called security - an everlasting one at that.
The doom and gloom will be for the unbelieving; we are just witnesses of it. We are not promoting it, or wishing it to come to pass; we already know that it will. So then, why keep saying times aren't bad...or we're just promoting fear? Christ told us not to fear when we see these things coming to past. If one is fearful, then one does not have faith and hope in Christ and what He promised to those who believe in Him.
That being said, why do people get on us just because we want to discuss what the Bible states will happen? What is the point in doing this on a board that is intended for such purposes? Do these people have an agenda? If so, what is it? Everything is rosy, and things are getting better all the time??? I don't think so....that's not what my Bible says....the world is corrupt, sinful and unbelieving. Maybe a little doom and gloom will shake them onto the right path? They certainly aren't going to be filling the pews when everything is gay. (no pun intended) We all know, that when things are going good, the last thing on an unbeliever's mind is God and going to church. God only comes into the picture (for the unbeliever) when man needs some help. (look at post 9-11 for example) Some churches had record attendance for the weeks following this incident...
Just my 2 cents....Maranatha. -CS

Statistics can be used to say almost anything.
While we may have a far greater number of people alive this side of the flood than in Biblical times, the percentage of them in moral decay might be lower.
There are a lot of moral things and moral people that do not get noticed because of a desire for "bad times" in order to "hasten" the rapture.
People view God in two ways. They either see an angry God anxious to bring wrath, or a loving God that wants to bless His people.
Most of your theology will be colored by your particular view.

My theology isn't colored at all; I simply am looking for the promise of His appearance.
BTW: I don't know how many time we can state this; but no one who is a true Christian here, wants or hopes for bad times in order to hasten the rapture. The rapture could happen at any moment. Why do people believe just because we are anxious for the rapture, that we love to see 'bad times'?
We are witnesses of the times, not cheerleaders....
I just don't get it, and neither do you apparently.....

1892 BC Sodom & Gomorrah Destroyed and I read there would have been close to 30 million people in the world. By the time of our Lord's Holy Birth there would've been 300 million or more!!!
But I do agree with you that evil grows every day :gaah Satan's time is short.

I tend to agree with you on this. We are not praying for bad times but we don't bury our heads in the sand and pretend it it not upon us either.

My father's America:
1. No mega churches preaching the gospel to thousands under one roof.
2. No TV ministries preaching the gospel to millions.
3. Minimum wage was $1.00 an hour.
4. Politicians were corrupt and underhanded.
5. Hitler gassed 6,000,000 Jews.
6. No air conditioning. We fanned with a folded newspaper.
7. No car. We walked if we wanted to go somewhere.
8. Blacks were regarded as not fully human.
9. Economic collapse, bringing on the great depression, and massive fortunes were lost. People were killing themselves over their losses.
10. Rotary dial black telephones.
As for #8 - Native Americans/American Indians were treated the same way.:doh
