Not Our Father's America

Every country goes through changes. However, stable countries are able to maintain their basic culture, identity, language, and heritage throughout the various gradations of societal evolution. Hence, through major wars, minor conflicts, turmoil, depression, and dissension, America, for the most part, has been able to maintain the fundamental underpinnings that made our country unique. But, Ladies and Gentlemen, those underpinnings are very quickly disappearing.

In a very real sense, this is not our fathers' America. And by that, I am not referring to our modern conveniences, our advanced technologies, or our avant-garde styles of dress and forms of entertainment. I am talking about the principles and values that cut to the very core of who and what we are as a nation. We are fast losing the substance of what it means to be American.

For the most part, our fathers' America was a nation that had a firm faith in God and was not ashamed to publicly acknowledge Him. This faith in God was not something worn on the sleeve to parade around every two years during a political campaign; it was something genuine, something that guided practical day-by-day decisions and choices.

Can one imagine people in past generations saying that, while they had a "deep and personal" faith, this faith had no place or bearing in the practical decisions they would make. What lunacy! Yet, this is exactly what we hear so many of today's politicians and businessmen routinely say.

In fact, one common saying for this generation of Christian businessmen is, "He doesn't let his Christianity get in the way of his business." And for what appears to be a majority of today's commercial leaders, this is not just a maxim; it is a fact.

Secondly, our fathers' America enjoyed a strong commitment to the principles of freedom and independence. Through major wars, threats, and terrorist attacks, they never surrendered the principle that our Creator had granted us liberty.

Oh, there were times when our commitment to liberty was seriously challenged. However, the resolve of our forebears regarding the principle of freedom was stronger than any foe, whether it was found across the ocean or across the street. But, this is not our fathers' America.

Yes, 'tis true...mankind has fallen away from the commitments its' forefathers made with the one true God of Heaven and Earth.

This falling away is a mighty birth-pang in and of itself. Year by year, people across this globe leave behind the bits of Truth that their ancestors have garnered. Satan is hard at work trying to squelch that last bit of Truth. Little by little, mentions of I AM and His Name are being confronted with laws, penalties, imprisonments, and executions.

All the while, most of the 'Church' stays asleep at the wheel, or bounding off after worldly pleasures and rewards. Thank God, that there are still many voices left to spread the Truth to this decaying world. May many turn their thoughts and intents back to the One who can truly save us.

May Jesus Christ be proclaimed King of this Earth soon! Maranatha!

Why? Because the elites who control our media, Congress, the White House, and commercial boardrooms are in the process of constructing their New World Order, and a disarmed citizenry is absolutely essential to this end. Make no mistake about it: they want our guns, and they want them badly!

Very true......our country is spiraling downward at an alarming pace. Could very well be a birth pang in itself.

My father's America:

1. No mega churches preaching the gospel to thousands under one roof.
2. No TV ministries preaching the gospel to millions.
3. Minimum wage was $1.00 an hour.
4. Politicians were corrupt and underhanded.
5. Hitler gassed 6,000,000 Jews.
6. No air conditioning. We fanned with a folded newspaper.
7. No car. We walked if we wanted to go somewhere.
8. Blacks were regarded as not fully human.
9. Economic collapse, bringing on the great depression, and massive fortunes were lost. People were killing themselves over their losses.
10. Rotary dial black telephones.

I like this reply. It just points out how much your outlook really affects your happiness. If all you focus on are the negative changes in the world, you will never be happy. But if Christians would focus on all the actual progress that's been made, maybe our churches wouldn't be filled with "doom and gloom" worshipers every Sunday.

I dug into the WW2 Navy Archives to find a picture of my Dad's ship the "USS Sea Hawk". When I gave it to him he wept ..... then he told us why serving this country meant so much to him.

My Dad's generation is dying off. With it goes the last remnants of greatness America used to be.
