I can guarantee that any book that was written 2000-4000 years ago would be hard to understand for any person who is not educated. Shakespeare and Homer have to be taught in high school and university in order to understand them.
But the Word of God is spiritually discerned and can only be understood by those who are being led of the Spirit of God, and are trained to understand it. And that by years of diligent study. Besides, the RCC has long been known to hide the Word of God from the people in order to keep control over the masses (no pun intended!)

Christ himself told why He spoke in parables. Our Lord didn't want anyone with a passing curiosity to pick up His Word and decipher it's myriad of truths. For what does that prove?
He wanted us to SEEK HIM THROUGH HIS WORD. To want it, with our hearts and seek his guidance. He wants commitment! The kind He gave to us. And by grace, as we seek with our hearts and our minds, His Word, He reveals it to us through the Spirit.
It's not like picking up a reader's digest and those that categorize it that way through this survery are obviously, as much in the dark as the ones trying to read it.

Amen! God speaks to our hearts.
As a former RCC member who had a hard time understanding the Bible when I first read one I can attest that we are led by the Holy Spirit and that is when HIs Word becomes plain and simple:yeah
I agree. I find it easier and easier to understand each time I read it. The Holy Spirit makes things known to us.

this is why God instructed fellowship. Fellowshipping is important so people don't misinterpret the bible . like that woman who let her child die because interpreted the bible her way . she believed in healing without a doctor.. If she fellowshipped with other christians, someone could easily point out with scriptures that doctors are ok.

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- The Bible: Most people in Europe and North America have one and some of them actually read it, but more than half of them say it is difficult to understand.
A survey commissioned by the Catholic Biblical Federation found that even those who reported reading the Bible said it was not easy to understand.
Luca Diotallevi, the Rome-based sociology professor who coordinated the survey's working group, said, "This is very important: People described the Bible as difficult whether or not they said they read it."
"The people of God are asking for help reading the Bible," he said in an April 30 interview.
The Catholic Biblical Federation commissioned the survey as part of its preparation for the October world Synod of Bishops, which will focus on the Bible.
