I came across this today. We can have all of the hybrid cars, hydrogen cars, smart cars, etc but trucks need diesel to move our economy. As long as these guys and gals are putting $5.00 a gallon diesel in their tractor trailers and getting 5 miles per gallon I think we are headed for serious economic troubles in our grocery store. One concern I have and I do not see it getting any attention is the automotive part industry. If you are nursing a sled and need parts but the trucks are not getting to your local parts dealer could be an issue keeping an older car on the road.

I've had that on my mind ever since gas prices started soaring. If truckers are pushed out of business, there are a lot of deliveries that won't be made. This is going to impact every purchase we make.

Yes, I agree....I don't feel like we hear about this in the news and it is important.

My brother is a trucker and I know it's very hard on him - and he doesn't even do the deliveries of goods, more hauling rock, etc. It's getting harder and harder for him to make enough to pay his bills after fuel expenses. I can't imagine what the over the road truckers are feeling....

That Perry Stone video was very troubling............can you imagine the damage a terrorist stike on multiple oil refineries could inflict, not just what it would do to fuel prices....but I understand the hazardous chemicals released could kill millions.

The problem is more with trucking/shipping companies being greedy and not caring about their drivers. Even at $5 a gallon and 5 miles per gallon, a truck shipment's fuel cost is still just a buck a mile for the whole trailor full. Divided by the thousands of items that fit on a semi trailor this should not raise costs that much per item. Since the driver isn't getting much extra for fuel and much of the rising costs are being blamed on fuel costs, it's obvious someone is pocketing the extra money.

Factor in the thousands of miles those truckers cover, to deliver those goods, and the bottom line often goes into the red, nowadays.

I personally think that we don't hear much because the powers that be do not want to create any kind of panic and have a run on grocery stores... let alone banks. Control of the media is alive and well in America, thus all the fluff instead of what is really going on. Thats why the prayer for God's gift of wisdom is sooooooooooo important.. so we can "see" and "know" what to do now.... if anything..... :candle
