So what Beth Moore is saying is that she feels that one during prayer can be still, and listen for God to speak to us in his WORD AND in to listen if he speaks to our hearts?

What exactly is wrong with that? During a really difficult time, I was intereceeding for healing for my son and I prayed, fasted and read God's word daily. I heard his voice. But then, on the worst Day, I just kinda broke down and cried out "I need to hear from you Lord".....I know what your word says but I need to hear YOU.......

And He answered, very powerfully and as gentle as a wisper. So was that eastern spirituality or contemplative?

I'll admit, I have a hard time grasping exactly what that is.

Hon, contemplative prayer is more of a chanting type of prayer that has a belief that you are able to make God talk to you/give you gifts/prophecy/perform for you if you chant certain words enough. Or if you perform a prayer like ritual of sorts, or even sitting around chanting words to meditate like yogi's do.

You crying out in prayer for our Father and Him answering you was real genuine prayer.

Just click on that link that I sent in my first post. You'll hear a podcast about why this particular church is no longer doing her study. He mentions that his church has used her studies before and found nothing biblically wrong with them, but then she started turning toward the contemplative prayer thing. Not sure exactly when she did the "Illicit Tent of Meeting" though.

Doesn't she teach women's Bible studies? It sounds like she is mostly Biblically "right on", except for this one matter. Does she respond to any correction??

Unfortunately, there's more to her than that. Have you ever been to one of her conferences? I went to one and it totally creeped me out. She doesn't prepare anything ahead of time, she just waits till "the Lord tells her what to say" and then goes from there. No exegeting Scripture or anything. In the middle of the conference I was at, she stopped and went, "I have received an impartation from the Lord..." The whole conference was nonsense. She had us yelling out our questions to God like it was some sort of spell that He would have to answer.:tsk:tsk:tsk

Wow, I didn't know she had gone that far. Shades of Peter Wagner and his crew. I knew she was into contemplative prayer (not just praying) and has been teaching women and men, but I didn't know about this stuff. How disappointing for you to go to her conference expecting encouragement thru the Word of God and then be confronted with such a bizarre meeting.

No, I haven't, as I have my favorite men teachers/preachers. I don't know much about her Biblical studies. I've seen some books for sale, though...
