That is a high average compared to where I live.
Our milk has never been higher than $2.99 and usually it's $2.86 at Wal-Mart.

Oscar Meyer Bacon is always $2.99 and Ground Beef is the same at $1.99 a pound all the time. Sometimes cheaper.

Meat will double in the next 3-6 months.

It is cheap now because ranchers can't afford to feed the cattle, hogs and chickens and are flooding the market with younger animals. I heard on CNBC the other day that a rancher--with current meat prices and the cost of feed to get cattle to butchering weight loses 273 dollars a head.

Once the stock is clear, expect it to go VERY high indeed.

We are stocking up on it when we find good sales. I have at least 10 roast in my freezers right now and about 20 pounds of chicken breast. I need to start making my stews and canning them so I make more room in my freezer to buy more meat to put away.

So, you think it'll be easy enough to wait till mid-August, then? Will they still be somewhat flooded?

Be nice to know how to plan to stock my freezer since I don't have a lot of room and I like to sort of get down to a certain level before I leave on a trip (back from the mission tri on the 11th). Especially since I really like chicken. I've got some plastic containers of my mom's homemade shells in there right now, with some other stuff, too.

Thanks.

I suspect anything with chicken or beef with also go up at about the same time, right? Like I really like Bertolli's chicken parm. forzen, and stuff like that.

I just sold my beef last week for 90 cents a pound on the hoof. I bought new feeder cattle for 1.26 a lb. Its going up....
