my sister just e-mailed me that thieves are stealing airconditioning units from businesses and homes in Maryland. They want the copper pipes from the units.
YUP I live in MD and there have been thieves stealing copper from trains and graves, lately it has been train horns they are trying to steal.

I remember during the recession in the seventies how people were tearing gold jewelry right off of peoples necks, wrists, and fingers! The price of gold had risen so high. I think we're about to see a repeat of that, on a much higher scale. :nod
They had on our local news last night how car parts are being cut right off the cars. People get off of work, go to their car, and find they can't drive it! :ohno
That happened to me one time. I couldn't get home.

I knew a gravedigger years ago who used to "remove" the flowers from the grave "when needed". He made an extra $50-$200/wk., depending on how many he could sell.
If he got off work early, he set up on the corner in town and sold them out of the back of his pickup truck.
I just don't believe it.:shocked Undertakers are last people in the world to let you down.

:nod This is very true, they ARE the last people in the world to let you down - literally.
Sorry, it just really tickled my funny bone. I know you meant it in all seriousness but it just hit me the funny way. forgive me, it's years of living with a husband who's a punster. I needed a good laugh...the past few days have been quite difficult. Thank you. :bighug
