Hello Ladies- :hat

Please excuse me for posting here, but this is on behalf of my wife. I'm sure there may be plenty of you out there that have dyed or highlighted your hair. My wife has been one of them and it always looks great.
However, she was wondering if anyone has ever used the all-natural hair dyes? If so, what brands do you recommend and where can you buy them?

Thanks!

If you have any gray then the all natural will not cover well. I found this out the hard way.

I go to the salon to get my hair highlighted... the stuff from the box turns my hair orange! :fear:heh

I also learned this the hard way. It turned my gray to green. It was a good thing that I didn't have that much gray.

There are two brands that I have used to cover gray hair. I am not sure they are considered "all-natural" but I'll share them anyway. One is called Water Works and the other is called Bigen. I purchase them at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Both are permanent hair color that contain no ammonia and no hydrogen peroxide. What you get is basically a colored powder and you add water to it. I really like it because it is completely odorless and since it is in powder form, you can just mix up half a batch if you only need to touch up your roots. My hair does not stink afterwards! The down side is that they only have brunette shades. I have also found that the color turns out pretty dark so your wife may want to try a shade lighter than what she would normally choose.

Trust me, if you want you wife to still look beautiful, while keeping her extremely happy, tell her to go have it professional colored!! My daughter is a hair dresser and tells story after story after story of "boxed dye" disasters!:preach I too, can speak from experience that it will end up costing you 3-times the salon price if her hair gets messed up, not to mention the bad mood and tears she will share with you!:fear Been there, done that too many times!:doh

And...I agree that if there is any gray, natural hair dyes will not cover the gray.:ohno

I don't know where you live, but there are a few salons in our area that offer natural and even organic hair color. If you do some research online, I bet you could find one (unless you're in a very rural area).

It cost $40 plus to get your hair dyed now days. I will stick to doing my own. Most of the time, it turns out great when I do my hair.

It cost $40 plus to get your hair dyed now days. This is exactly why I've always done mine myself with Loving Care, altho I'm sure that it looks 'box-dyed', but not for too much longer. Most of the time, it turns out great when I do my hair. I wish that I could say this, too, but my hair has generally turned out too [COLOR="Blue"]dark

Currently, I'm letting my 'gray' roots grow out and plan to wear it happily.
Gray hair is beautiful. . .I just wish I hadn't wasted all that time/money/emotions on coloring my hair and worrying about it not looking like I thought it should.
It's time to be me. :)
