Well to make a very long story short, I've dealt with endometreosis for over a decade now. After our son was born in 1999, it got worse. It was recommended I have another baby to help with it. I was having troubles getting pregnant, had laproscopic surgery, took clomid and got pregnant with my daughter. It seemed to be a little better after she was born just very heavy and when she was about 2.5yrs old, I got pregnant with my 3rd. Since I had him, it's been all over the place. Bleeding sometimes every week. Sometimes every other week for 4-5 days. They put me on birth control, I tried it for 3 months to no avail. They put me on a different one and I do NOT like the way it makes me feel. I'm jittery, dizzy, my skin has broken out, and I'm 2 weeks on it and already bleeding. So they are thinking about putting me on Lupron for 3 months and then doing a hysterctomy. From what I've "googled" it seems like a potent medicine and I'm sure a hysterectomy is no fun. I'm almost 33 and it's no fun bleeding all the time. 3-4 times a month and cramps, bloating, moods. I'm wondering if anyone else has gone through anything like this before? Have you used the medicine? Am I too young for a hysterctomy? I'm full of questions and none of my girlfriends have gone through this. My DH is understanding as to what I'm going through but it takes a toll on him too. Any advice? Thanks in advance!

I have suffered from Endometriosis since... all my fertile life. We just had our baby last month, and so far so good.. but we'll see.

I can't handle BC due to something in my system (no idea what) but we ran about all the gamut we could at the time prior to me getting married and nothing worked.

I did have laproscopic surgery and then got started on the monthly (for six months) depot lupron. I had the usual ""mild"" side-effects. Then the doctor moved me to the 6 month shot.. heavens to mergatroid, I had ALL the side effects possible that one would have as an unmarried person. Totally not fun. The dr pretty much wrote me off on them.

My GP doctor was really not happy the OBGYN had done what he did, since he had reccommended a different course of action with me. Oh well, btdt got the teeshirt!

It's been about 5 years out since that, and I had a lot of issues after once things did get regulated, and hadn't returned to the OBGYN until I moved overseas and was expecting (I know, baaaaaaaad me.. but let's just say I have had horrible experience and wasn't wanting to do that again anytime soon. Thankfully I now have an awesome doctor who listens and gives me the time of day)

A lot of people have great results with depot-lupron, but many people have the side effects also. If it were me, I'd get a second and third opinion and weigh my options.

In my family, hormonal issues run rampant, and it hasn't been unheard of for someone in my mom's side to have a hysterectomy in their 30s...

I celebrated my 30th birthday by having a hysterectomy. That was 24 years ago and I've never regretted it. I wasn't given many options at the time. Maybe that's because I also had a severe precancerous condition. I have felt so much better these last 24 years. However, I wouldn't undertake something so drastic without seeking a second opinion.

I too have endometriosis as well as a number of female related problems; i.e.,fibroids, cervical cysts, dysplasia. My doctor suggested that I take the Lupron treatment but something in my spirit told me to do some research. I Goggled Lupron and EVERY comment that I saw from women who took this drug was negative. Do your research before undergoing this treatment. I will have to have a hysterectomy in the very near future but I declined to do the Lupron. I will be praying for you in this decision.

I never had endometriosis but I did have fibroids that were causing me problems for years. Tried the BCP and such, but was very tired of spotting forever. Finally, had a partial hysterectomy when I was 45. I'm 52 now, not on hormones and haven't gone through menopause yet. The hysterectomy was a blessing, one of the best things I have ever done.

Any thoughts of letting them do an endometrial ablation on you? It's supposed to work very well in controlling the bleeding. I've had several friends who've had it done for this reason and only one out of the eight eventually went on and had to have a hyst. The rest either have no period, or very light ones.

I'd suggest Googling it or asking your doc.

God Bless!

My SIL had her hysterectomy at 29 or 30 due to an ongoing battle with endometriosis and ovarian cysts. After several surgeries, they finally did the hysterectomy. She did have a problem stem from that (pretty major), but she brought that on herself by not healing before doing heavy lifting/outside work. She has not regretted her hysterectomy one bit...that was 2 years ago. She did need to get on hormone pills to get her body aligned and adjusted to it and she refused those. After some struggles, she got on them for a short time and has been doing great ever since.

It was mentioned but very briefly. She spent a lot of time talking about lupron and a hyst. I'm so frustrated by this. This is my 10th straight day of bleeding.GRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:faint
