KarenB what did you mean when you said that what Keiffer4Christ said sounds agnostic?
I was under the impression that agnostic meant....
1: a person who holds the view that any ultimate reality (as God) is unknown and probably unknowable; broadly : one who is not committed to believing in either the existence or the nonexistence of God or a god
2: a person unwilling to commit to an opinion about something <political agnostics>
-from merriam-webster online dictionary
From very early on in the church there came Greek agnostic teachings blended with the gospel. One of these teachings was that the body is less important than the soul or even bad and you need to get free from your body the sooner the better.>or perhaps it's gnostic, Sometimes I mix up all those kinds of terms :hehee You say that your body is yuck. But it's created by God and the text I gave shows how He thinks about your body.
About tattoos, a long time ago there was a similar thread about this and there was a link posted to information about it. I don't know where it all is anymore, but I remember watching and reading the information and it said that throughout the centuries people used tattoos against evil but that in reality it is connected with demons and that's obvious when you see what pictures people put on themselves.
The point is you just cannot do with your body whatever you wish because it's not your's but God's.
And I agree with another poster who said that fairies are connected with witches, they are occult. Don't ask me where I have everything from, because since my conversion in july 2005 I've read and learned SO MUCH that I do know a lot but not anymore WHERE from :idunno :hug

That sure would start a convorsation, and honestly I don't see anything wrong with doing that, other than you would look foolish with a tattoo on your forehead.
There are more unbelievers with tattoos then believers. I'm not sure what that means, or should I say teaches us... explain please. And you tell us why do unbelievers get tattoos? and why do believers get tattoos?

This is where grace and the law kinda make it hard for me. Meaning, the Word says not to make any cuttings on your flesh nor tattoo. But then it also goes on to say Dont cut your beard a certain way.
And of course men cut their beards all the time. So please explain, because this is starting to get a little confusing for me-
I know it looks like I am picking and choosing what laws to follow and what laws not to. What I am saying is the Lord probably told the People of Israel not to eat certain foods or modify the body for health conerns, and I believe it may be wise to think about the reason he may have made those rules.

karenb thanks for the response! I've believed in Jesus and God my whole life but honestly I haven't spent a lot of time in studying the Bible until recently, so i'm still shaky on a lot of it, I appreciate the seriousness of your response, instead of a "sarcastic, i know everything and i'm better then everyone attitude" like somebody on here. The name doesn't even need to be mentioned because every1 already knows who it would be. and that person knows who they are as well.

Dear Soljah4Christ, I've also believed all my live. But it was all head knowledge, and the doctrines of the church I belonged to. But in daily life I lived more for myself and just a little for God and made more choices on my own judgement or just went astray. But every now and then there was something nagging and in a way I kept searching and was really a serious person (still am:hehee). In july 2005, after a lot of problems and pain and in a pretty miserable situation, I watched the film about Jesus from the gospel of Luke. And then it STRUCK me. HE did THAT for ME?! And HE IS the SON of GOD! HE LOVES ME?! And I prayed the prayer that came in the end with all my heart: I've sinned, forgive me, come in my heart and take over my life. AND HE DID!!! Now I want to obey Him and His Word, the Bible. I love Him and the Father and the Spirit and I can hardly wait to see Him and be with Him forever. And then seeing you all too! Love from Karen :hug

Well, here comes an "I think" but I remember having heard that these things all have to do with heathen praxis and not praxis for fun but having to do with their idol worship and way of mourning. God says not to follow these evil ways. He is the Lord.

Dear OP, go and enjoy your tatoos. I don't believe anyone in this thread has given a good solid Biblical reason for or against. It is so simple, our relationship with our Lord has to do with the condition of our hearts; not what we wear, not the color of our skin, not about make-up or the lack of it, not about hairstyles or colors, not about whether our ears are pierced or tongues or whatever, not any of these things.
Romans 10 tells us:
8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,"[d] that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. 11As the Scripture says, "Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame."[e] 12For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved."[f]

You have a fairy tattoo? I worked with a woman who was a Wiccan, and she was completely into fairies. There is, apparently, a connection between witches and fairies. :thinking
Oh come on really? Fairies are cute; they don't have to be associated with witchcraft do they?!! I would much more be inclined in my mind to think of that in regards to an Org (sp?) think LOTR. And i suppose it would depend on what they looked like and what context i watched them on t.v. but i don't think i would automatically associate them with witchcraft.
And some one else said something of the occult and tattooing; for goodness sakes... She's not getting a tattoo to glorify satan... She's a believer.. Why does everything that satan has done or counterfeits have to be satan's now... :rolleyes
Some of the legalism here is almost laughable if it wasn't so sad the judgment that comes with it... As for Joe Ross : yes judgmental comes to mind; for many of his posts IMO; God forbid we disagree with you. :rolleyes I don't think a tattoo or a piercing is going to turn a Christian off; or a new believer but let's say it does or any Christian for that matter.. If that is the case that's them judging someone else; and they need to take that up with God not me with the tattoo or piercing..
Some posts on this board i read they want to go back to law -- other posts were not under law... blah, blah, blah.... Can't it be just a personal choice between you and God.. For goodness sakes not all are convicted to not do this; i personally would not do some of the piercings or tattoo markings some others would.. But that is me; i certainly wouldn't impose it on anybody else.
Gasp how many of you have a piercing? Say your ears if you're a girl or a boy for that matter.. Where is scripture saying don't do that; and it probably was originally pagan too so we better not do it.. :lol2

I have four tats, actually one was a cover up. I had a small dragon on my left shoulder, I hated it and covered it up with a large butterfly, you can tell what was there. WHy did I get it. To show I was free from my past mistakes.
I have a cross with my kids initials on my right ankle. People ask why I got it. I got it when I decided to turn my life and focus back to Christ and my children, who I thank God for.
My next one is on my foot, it's big and gets seen a lot. It is a butterfly with a cross in the middle. I get asked about it often. What does it mean? It represents that God put his son on the cross and Jesus died, and the butterfly behind it shows how we are "free" from our past sins, by going to the cross in front of it.
Oh, and I got the last three last year when I was thirty.
