I used to collect comics, Marvel and DC, and some Dark Horse. I am currently collecting the Dark Tower series by Stephen King and Marvel Comics.

I have heard that the Civil War series is pretty good...I am looking for the Trade versions now...sounds like an interesting storyline...

I've been loving the Planet Hulk/World War Hulk event. Just shows how the pride and arrogance of some can come back and bite them in the butt.

Right now I am getting scans of the old 60's titles starting with Fantastic Four #1 and reading through from the beginning of the Silver Age. good stuff reading the comics in the order they came out.

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Unfortunately, in this day and age, comic books are becoming more adult themed with increased sexuality and violence, not to mention the new-age philosophy running rampant through titles like Dr. Strange, or the secular humanistic evolutionism of the X-Men. Comics today aren't written for kids anymore, but for 35-year old adult men who haven't let go of their childhoods.

I'll always have fond memories of whiling away the hours engrossed in the adventures of Captain America and Batman, but that's all it is for me: memories.

My husband collects Marvel and DC and he asked me to start him off on the Dark Tower series for his birthday! :shocked Weird. You guys sound like carbon copies. :) And by the way my son is in the Navy and his base is in Oxnard.........

The Dark Tower is Mature rated, just an fyi...I'm a fan of the books, but I do not endorse them to Christians...freedom in Christ, but no stumbling blocks if I can avoid it...:)

So your son is in Oxnard huh? Pt Hueneme, or Pt. Mugu? Is going to church anywhere in the community? We have a lot of military in our congregation.

Limited to The Nam, Capt Savage and his Leatherneck Raiders, Sad Sack, and Hot Wheels. I guess that goes back awhile.

Most of the Spiderman-Batman...etc... went dark and seemed to get darker.

It used to be the hero was obvious and good prevailed. Now it seems dark is cool and the division between good and evil gets blurred.

I would be cautious about who reads what now days.

I'm really enjoying World War Hulk and Captain America right now. Civil War was a pretty awful comic. Mark Millar is hit or miss as a writer and Civil War was not his best work. The idea was ok, and better writers have picked up the idea post-CW

Mainly tho I'm a DC guy. I would buy a lifetime subscription to the JLA, JSA and the Flash if I could.

GI Joe: AE has gotten a lot better recently too. Since the old Marvel days, it has had moments of brilliance followed by years of boredom in print. Right now with it's WWII story arc is finally good again.
