Anyone know why the homeschooling forum is in the ladies' forum? I am a father of three and will begin homeschooling this fall. :scratch

No worries, you are more than welcome to post there. I guess it's there because most of the home educating is done by the moms. :idunno

Yea, don't be a stranger. It was put there because at the time, it was the most logical place to put it. It should be getting pretty busy in there here very soon, since everyone will be starting a new year. In fact, today I am going over what I need for our next year. I already have a few things, but I still need the unit study I will be using, but I've been waiting to get it used. I found three on VegSource.

In case nobody here knows about VegSource, it is a vegetarian site, but they have one part of their site specifically dedicated to homeschoolers. It's a swap board to buy and sell your materials directly from other homeschoolers. There isn't any bidding, the seller posts what they have for sale and what they are asking, and if you are interested you either reply to the post, or email the seller. I've bought and sold through them over the years, and it's been pretty reliable.

For goodness sakes your screen name is Daisylane...no one would have ever known your were a guy. You would have had great cover infiltrating the womens domain. You could have reported back to us with great insight. Now your cover has been blown..what were you thinking?

WOW!!! Thank you so much for all of the replies! I have always felt welcome at RR, but the replies to this post really drive home the massive difference between the secular world and the Christian world. :bighug

I have been praying about this for a while now, and I feel led to homeschool my youngest. My 11 year old son is about to start middle school and wants to try it for a year. As I know this will be a challenge for me to start, I have decided to start with my daughter for now. I am so thankful for everyone's suggestions and ideas...now I have to decide where to begin.

At the top of this forum, is a sticky called Homeschool Information. You may want to read through it for helpful ideas. If you have any questions just post your question, and somebody will happily answer.

I just want to encourage all of you who are homeschooling your children. I only homeschooled two of our three, and only for three years, during the mid to late elementary years. It was the best thing we ever did for our family. Mostly, it taught them to be self-thinkers and removed them from an ungodly culture, for awhile.
When they returned to public school I was amazed at what the experience had done for them, in more ways than I had originally known. The youngest just graduated from high school last month. We still face challenges, but I believe that those years and values will still be in their hearts. God bless.

I highly recommend it! My son was on the Homebound program his junior and senior years! I was very happy with the situation. I would encourage anyone to be Homeschooled in a Christian environment! I still think that the students need some interaction out in the world, so get them involved in some type of positive social situation. God Bless the parents who are facing challenges!

This will be our 5 year homeschooling and we will have 3 learning together this year. One in the 10th, one in the 4th and one in K. Very happy HSing and wouldn't trade it for anything!

Homeschooling has made my kids like something out of Leave It To Beaver. The difference between them and even the kids at their church who go to public school is astounding! If you can make it work go for it! The results are worth it. We're in our 6th year and in the beginning it was a learning experience trying to get into a comfortable program. But now it's such a breeze and my kids are far ahead of their public school peers. They have a closer relationship with the Lord that I know they wouldn't have if they had been in government funded schools all this time. And our family is super close, another great incentive to homeschool. It really draws the family together.
