The Governor General's Office announced Tuesday abortion rights activist Dr. Henry Morgentaler has been named to the Order of Canada.
Morgentaler is among 75 Canadians appointed for one of Canada's highest honours. The appointments -- which went into effect in April -- also include former prime minister Kim Campbell, former New Brunswick premier Frank McKenna, and former Vancouver mayor Philip Owen.
The Governor General's website states that Morgentaler was made a member of the Order of Canada for "his commitment to increased health care options for women, his determined efforts to influence Canadian public policy and his leadership in humanist and civil liberties organizations."

This is just terrible! I hang my head in shame as a Canadian. May God have mercy on us. If there is a petition to withdraw his name from this high honour, I plan on signing it. I may just write my Member of Parliament, too.

I actually started another thread about this . I am sickened by this appointment. Henry Morgentaler should be in jail, not being awarded and paraded around like a big hero.

It just shows how low we've sunk as a nation. God have mercy on us.

OOps, Sorry Paul. sometimes news stories do get double postings. I see we were on board about the same time. i wondered if I should have posted in Breaking News, but you have.

I believe we live in a wonderful country, but sometimes, some of the leading authorities actions cause me shame, anger and heartache,- such as we have in this instance.

I think it is ludicrious how they can take a man who supports abortion so blatently and give him a title like "women's right activist" or whatever the heck they labeled him. Where are the rights of the innocent? The children?

How can a moral wrong EVER be a civil right?
