I have decided to start filling my tank whenever it gets close to a half a tank (maybe even at 3/4ths). Seeing how quickly gas prices have been rising, and the fact that they rarely go down, I want to have a full tank in case prices suddenly rise.

IF Israel attacks Iran, or IF the Strait of Hormuz us blocked, or IF the price of oil jumps to $200 bucks a gallon, I want to be on a full tank of gas that I paid $4.50/gallon for, NOT $8.50!!

It won't make a huge difference in the long run, but in the short run I will feel better knowing I kept the tank full so I didn't find myself on "E" the morning of another big price jump you know?

:nod Me too! I decided to do this partly because of the prices going up and partly in case there's a gas shortage. Like you said it may not matter in the long run, but at least I'll have gas for a little while!

Things sure aren't looking too good out there. :candle

I found that I/we have been doing the same thing when the
prices starting going Way up.
It cost about the same amount to fill it up when its at half now
as it use to cost to fill it up When it was down on the E.

I can no longer afford to fill my tank completely at these prices much less higher. A few gallons at a time.

we would lose gas mileage if we filled the tank. of course it's a suburban w/ a 44 gallon tank... that's alot of weight to carry around.

A suburban??? Are you crazy? You must be an earth-hating, non-recycling, war mongrel!! :aha Just kidding! I'm right there with you with my Expedition. You would think I would feel self-conscious driving around, polluting the earth with my gas guzzler and my highly wasteful, 3 children. I feel like someone who is wearing fur to a PETA conference these days.

Who is Paul Proctor and what is it you read? Would like to know more.

Fox News said if Israel attacks Iran, the price of oil will literally double overnight. And so will gas.

Also, any hurricane that enters the Gulf of Mexico will probably affect gas, too. Local Houston station reported at the start of hurricane season that if a hurricane threatens an area where there are drilling platforms, then gas would immediately rise markedly. Some even went so far as to say gas would double overnight.

I normally fill my 4runner when it gets on half so it wont be so high a price to fill as it would be if it was on E. I know its the same price but atleast it feels better

We live in a small town and people are starting to try to siphon gas tanks. I know the newer cars have anti-siphon devices, but someone has been stealing gas out of some of the cars that park at our church.

As a good will gesture in our community, our church allows people who work on Main Street to park in the church parking lot during the week because parking is limited. We found out about the reported thefts because the police stopped by and asked one of our members who was mowing the church lawn if he had seen any suspicious activity. When we were working on our VBS float this week, we had to move the church van out of the shed (we don't have a garage large enough for the van), and the gas cap was off! Pretty nervy to try to steal gas from a church van!
