New evidence deep beneath the Arctic ice suggests a series of underwater volcanoes have erupted in violent explosions in the past decade.
Hidden 2.5 miles (4,000 meters) beneath the Arctic surface, the volcanoes are up to a mile (2,000 meters) in diameter and a few hundred yards tall.
They formed along the Gakkel Ridge, a lengthy crack in the ocean crust where two rocky plates are spreading apart, pulling new melted rock to the surface.

Could this be the cause of the melting ice cap rather than global warming???:thinking

That, or the fact that the sun as well is heating up. Scientists have noticed temperatures on Mars rising as well. Although I'm surprised they haven't found a way to blame our carbon emmisions for that as well... :rolleyes

People have just become so big for their britches that they think they are so big and important they can cause weather changes...me, me, me.

Wait! I know what it is. These underwater volcanoes are a result of the slowly-shifting magnetic pole reversal that is due to end the earth in 2012, as predicted by the Mayans.
At which time the earth does not quite end -- we all simply reach a new age of enlightenment.

Well, except for those of us not deemed "fit" for said "enlightenment" and who are standing in the way of "evolutionary progress". :heh

Well NASA does keep sending probes there, so it is our fault. All these probe vehicles are causing global warming on mars. NASA needs to develope a probe vehicle that runs on more environmental friendly fuels.
I am being sarcastic of course. :heh
