Hi,

Can you tell me the difference between Latter Day Saints and the Mormons. I was talking to a woman today who belongs to the Latter Day Saints & she said they were different from the Mormons. Although I thought she also told me she follows the book of Mormon.....also, although she could not remember the verse (is goinig to give it to me later) that the bible says that Jesus came to this country (the USA) in bodily form after the resurrection. Does anyone know the verse she is going to use? Thanks.....

They are the same thing. LDS and Mormons are synonyms.

Edited to add: The woman you spoke to might be a part of a spin-off from the Mormon/LDS church, thus labelling themselves and everyone else differently.

LDS members often try to distance themselves from the term "Mormon" because there are a lot of negative reactions associated with it. Polygamy is the number one thing LDS members try to reject, even though their founder, Joseph Smith had multiple wives and said that God commanded him to do so. But Lisa and Dramama are right, they are the same thing.

Thanks everyone, I have really been asking the Lord to lead me here.....and to speak the truth to her in a loving way.....I know the one time she told me she was Mormon and then when I questioned her about it (because they asked us to attend the baptism of her grandaughter....who is a friend o my daughters) I asked her some questions about what they believed.....that's when things changed. I will continue to ask the Lord's guidance.....thanks so much

I can't wait to see which verse she is referring to.
As far as I can recall, the USA is not specifically mentioned in the Bible, and Jesus Christ has yet to return after His resurrection.
