Newt Gingrich was just on Fox talking about his petition having over one million signatures so far so I decided to find the site and sign. Please also do so if you agree with the need to drill for oil here in the states.

They had this Harry Reed guy on for a second whining about how we can't drill for oil because of global warming....these sniveling environmentalists make me ill sometimes. They remind me of the verse in the Bible where people worship the creation over/instead of the Creator

Even if they start drilling today it won't help for another 15 to 20 years...

Actually, I've heard it could be as soon as five to ten. And anyway, that's exactly what they said in the mid-90s and don't you wish they had started then? Bottom line is, we've got to start sometime if we're ever going to get that oil.

Agree. I've heard more along the lines of 5 years. The thing is, we shouldn't be in this predicament we're now in with gas prices and wouldn't be if we had done this many years ago.

If you want gas for less money, then ask for more refineries.

Even if they start drilling today it won't help for another 15 to 20 years...When I hear this argument I can't help but believe it is someone's attempt to persuade people that drilling is futile, therefore don't bother drilling.
But the truth is most likely that the time it takes an oil company to get oil to market is much less than the anti's would have you believe, and is probably variable depending on where the drilling is occuring and how much infrastructure is already inplace.
One democratic representative was interviewed a few weeks back in which he said something to the effect "we don't want more oil, we want to reduce our use of oil." That is probably the philosophy driving the argument.

I was going to post something about this, prayed ... and totally changed my mind.
Instead, I'm going to say this: Imho, Christians need not be so caught up in some of the issues "of the world". That goes for me too. Probably especially me. We look at this and that, try to decide what the correct side of an issue is, and go on a campaign to change something or implement something .... and usually if someone isn't on board with the way we see something, they is the enemy. There are so many fragmented parts of the body of Christ today because of this.
Fact is, we see through a glass darkly. There are some obvious issues that are clearly right and wrong because of what scripture says and Christians by and large are on the same side of those issues. A good example would be the matter of abortion (hurts my fingers to even type that word and even more, my spirit). But there are many, many issues in the world today that are not addressed in scripture. That seems to be where the most contention is. More refining capacity is not going to lower prices at the pump because there is no shortage that will addressed by that extra capacity. People may be complaining about gasoline prices being where they are (Christians don't though), but they are still buying it as much as they want whenever they want ... whatever they need to. I'm speaking of course, the nation as a whole. I know there are some individuals hurting from the higher prices because I am one of them. I spent my last money on gasoline today; $10.71. About 2.5 gallons. Now I would rather get 8-10 gallons for that much for sure, but you know what? It doesn't matter. God is our provider.
I probably said more than I intended ... I have to get some sleep.
Good night and God bless every one of you! :)
