I am assuming that its pretty much broke forever now or its broke uless i have 500 bucks to put down, but is there away to fix it?

If the repair is that much don't bother. You can buy a new Dell laptop for like $550.

Sounds like the LCD screen got smashed. No fixing those, like a broken mirror. Only replacement.
*sigh*

You can buy a cheap external flat panel (about $150) and hook it up to the external vga port and use it as a desktop PC until you purchase another one.
I agree with Alhere, it's not worth fixing - laptops can be had now for less than the repair.

Oh! Along those same lines you could always go to the thrift store or check craigslist and buy a REALLY cheap old monitor ($10) and hook it up to your laptop and use as a desktop. If you lived close (not sure where you live) I'd give you a flat screen monitor that needs a good home.
