My daughter accidentally deleted the microphone in sounds/recording. Where does it go when it's deleted. I looked in the "trash" but it wasn't there. Anyone know how to get it back??

Daughter's laptop is a Toshiba running Vista Home Premium.

Thank you for any help.:thumb

I don't know about Vista, but it should be the same as XP.
Open your volume control (click the little speaker on lower right corner next to the clock)
Click on "file" and a menu should come up.
Click on "properties"
Look through the list and click the checkbox next to "Microphone"
Click "OK"

It says "no audio device installed". I think she REALLY deleted it!!:fear

You uninstalled or disabled the sound card.
Click on the start menu
right click on the "my computer" icon.
click on "properties"
click the "hardware" tab
click the "device manager" button
Look under "sound, video, and game controllers"
You should see something that says the name of the sound card with an icon that looks like a speaker next to it. The icon should have a red X over it. Right click on the text next to the icon and click "enable"
If it has a yellow exclamation point over the icon, then double click the text next to the icon and it should tell you why there is a problem.

If you want me to look at it then you can click the "print screen" button then open paint and push "ctrl" and "v" at the same time. Click on "file" then "save" and upload the picture to a service like Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) and post a link here.

Thanks Ghetto Guy! I took the pictures of all the windows I opened up like you said...but there was no icon or "enable". I'm going to have my daughter show me how to post the pictures I took....when I can corral her.
