I work for a Christian art school in the Portland, OR area that caters primarily to home school children. If you home school or if you have children who have Thursdays or Fridays off, then visit our website: www.msoaonline.com
We are a fairly young but growing school that is currently operating out of a local church. We hope to one day have our own place and in God's time and if it be God's will, then it will happen.
Come check us out! :heythere

This sounds pretty cool! I am in Tacoma (ish) Washington.. Portland is about 2.5 hours or so from me.. Would the class be worth going down for a field trip event for all day classes Thursday and Friday??? I also like the creative writing classes i saw in the line-up.. I have 3 kids' (14-DS, 9-DD, 7-DS) that would be participating most likely..
The prices seem fair and reasonable and i need something like this, b/c we don't really have something like this up in Washington - i sure wish we did b/c i've been looking for almost 4 yrs. for something similiar in OUR budget..
Thanks for any info. you can provide. :)

Hi Mel,
We actually have students that come all the way from Hood River, which is about 1hr 45min drive (is what I believe they said)...something close to that.
Another student about an hour west of us, which is closer to the beach. We also have some coming from Salem..which is about an hour drive. So yeah, we have students coming from all over! :) Some of the mothers from far away families we have stay at our school. Some work in the office, some just hang out. One family one term had a lot of children but only had a few of them actually enrolled. But they came from so far that we set up a table for them so they could homeschool their other children who weren't enrolled while their other children took classes from us.
We are very flexible and one of the best things I love about our school is that we look at the hearts of people, not the bottom line. Our school motto is we look at ourselves not as a business, but as a Ministry.
The Creative Writing class is my class, by the way. :hat
I'm the Cartooning and Creative Writing instructor. I'm also teaching Color Pencil this term, but that's just temporary.
In regards to our fair prices: since we do cater to home school families, we know that most of them are 1 income families, so they don't have a lot of money. That's why we want to keep the price down as much as we're able so families can afford it. We believe everyone should have an opportunity to get an art education!
