I've been watching this and like all of you I find it very disturbing. The only reason I have kept watching is that my DD and SIL's church is very into this. I've been watching and showing her the errors, she says she will look into it but so far has not. They have been having speakers come to speak to them about dreams, angles, and how to heal.

Last night while watching I was shocked to hear Bentley say ( guess nothing he says should shock me) that he has healed nonbelievers and that even after they have been healed they still did not believe and yet remained healed. Funny I thought Jesus always taught about having faith and believing in Him.

Another thing I found interesting is that he kept talking about a prophesy being fulfilled on Sunday night about the presence of God coming or something like that. Well from what I saw nothing different happened except for this thing on Monday night which I feel he just manufactured to say something happened.

I've got to chime in on this one, too. Sorry.
...
Some of us are capable of using it, judiciously, soberly, and with a thorough understanding of the consequences of what will happen if we do use it. . . or if we don't.

Chime away! And I think your "pro-gun" reasoning sounds the most sensible yet.

Perhaps I was overly generalizing about handguns. If you're using one because it's a useful tool to kill rattlesnakes, well, I can't argue with that. And I'm certainly not saying owning a gun automatically equals not being Christian. I'm saying that use of lethal force when there may well be alternatives (home-alarm systems?) doesn't sound particularly Christian. The "default" response to a perceived threat shouldn't be "kill the sucker".

I still can't accept the statements "shoot first, ask questions later" and "don't get into crime if you want to live". Neither of these statements sound like "judicious, sober" responses that show "a thorough understanding of the consequences".

I never claimed I could read anyone's mind, and I'm not saying that criminals should be treated as victims. But if I'm in a position to kill another human being dead, I'd better have a good reason to pull the trigger. And I guess I'm saying that "he's a stranger in my house" alone isn't a good enough reason. If he's heading for your daughters' room, well sure - you do what you have to to protect them. But automatically concluding that any stranger in your house automatically waives his God-given right to live simply by being there, well, that just doesn't sound like a Christian attitude to me. If you're living in a place where every criminal is a gun-toting homicidal/rapist maniac, well, maybe the best way to protect your kids is to move. But if that's not the case (and it's probably not), then you really do need a more 'judicious, sober" decision-making process than "you're in my house, you must want to die".
(As an aside, if another person wants or expects to die, does that automatically justify killing them?)

And I guess "what would Jesus do?" is setting an unrealistically high standard. Perhaps I should rephrase, and say that if the Christian ideal is to love everyone unconditionally, even (especially!) your enemies, taking such a cavalier approach to killing someone just because they've broken in seems to me to be a step in the wrong direction.

I'd really like to hear from non-North Americans on this one. Anyone out there?

The manifestation on the 3rd video is not human and clearly shows the demonic element of this outpouring. How horrific!

I pray that the Lord intervenes and opens the eyes of all true believers to who is really behind this outpouring.

Matthew 6:13
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.

The third one i posted is really shocking. Some prophetess who acts demon possessed prophecies about Todd. She elevates him to the level of Christ. Claiming that God is making him a "living epistle like the Word that became flesh and people saw the glory of God". She claims he "will teach people how to behold God until they are transformed". he is a "firstfruits of nation changers".

the next guy tells him that "you are a well pleasing son." from the Lord. he then reads scriptures about Jesus and seems to be applying them to Bentley!

This is abominable.

I couldn't even finish watching that third one that was definitely demonic as soon as that woman began to 'prophesy' my stomach turned and all I could say was that was from the pits of hell. How horrible to have filmed that and played it all over the world. God have mercy. Abominable is right!

Glad to be of service :hat

No one on this board is salivating at the mouth in expectation of getting to kill someone. No one on this board (or most gun-owners in general in the U.S. for that matter) lies awake at night hoping they hear an intruder so they can go play Rambo. :)

A good analogy is the rattlesnake you mentioned in your above post: We rattle our tail a lot so that we don't have to strike. :thumb

Just as perspective, I'll bring my car to a screeching halt (as long as there is no one behind me. . . lol) to avoid hitting a bunny rabbit. :lol2

I don't know if you or anyone else heard it or not, but there was some really weird background noises on that third video. :fear It was like a deep, throaty, groaning kind of noise. It gave me the heebie jeebies and the creepy crawlies! :fear

Maybe it was just my imagination. I didn't want to go back and listen to it again to see if it was all in my head! I don't wanna know!:twitch

Perhaps someone with the proper AV equipment and a little curiosity could isolate the sound and identify it as traffic or something else.

Or we could just ignore it and not watch the video again. I certainly don't care to!

It's a reflection of the poor amount of study which churches and many christians have put into the bible. When they are not girded and armored by the Word of God, they will fall for any wind of new doctrine. I would love to see a healthy Body of Christ, all knowledgeable and skillful in the Word of God, and repenting from sin...That would be a strong and effective church.
It makes me mad because things like this make christians look like people full of madness and lunacy.

I recently sent my brother a long email about a ridiculous video he had sent to me, showing crazy christians doing stupid things (My brother is a total non-believer). I sent him a message back explaining how the church is supposed to conduct itself, decently and in order, I explained to him the doctrines of reformed soteriology, Sovereign Grace, how the church is to be conducted, and various other doctrines in the Bible, and what I believe and how I act.
Well, all I can say is that the Lord really used the email back to him to show him how christians that believe in the authority of scripture should conduct themselves. That we are to conduct ourselves FAARR differently than the ridiculous actions of some of the pentecostal movements. He even thanked me for taking the time to compose the message, here was his response:

"dude your letter ruled, and i think you should log into IMDB.com and put
it in the user comments!.... it would be worth it...and gips&grips of
people will read it"
(V)
I did not post that to "toot my own horn", but to show, that even very degenerate non-believers may and can have respect towards Christians conducting themselves in an orderly, merciful, and humble manner. I was so shocked to see that on my brothers Myspace page under "heroes" section, he posted my name. Though my brother is on drugs, drinks and many other things, I feel as though due to the good witness over the years, he will become a believer...He may very well end up as a tribulation saint, but I do believe the Lord will mightily save him.
Don't misunderstand, my brother has seen me mess up so many times with so many things over the past 13 years. He's seen me succumb to sexual temptation, arguments, and other things, but all throughout I have never been judgemental of him, and in recent years have really tried to reflect the mercy, love, and forgiveness of Christ to him. Haha funny story, one time his friends were trying to give me a hard time about being weak minded and following religion, and my brother actually piped up against his friends and said "Dude, out of everybody here Ryan is the only one rebelling against what WE do!", that was such a blessing. And the Lord is working in him, he will believe in time.

Please pray for my brother, I love him alot, and only in the past 4-5 years has the Lord really restored a friendship between us. ---When I first got Saved in 1995 I was EXTREMELY zealous, and he couldn't stand being around me for a few years. That has been completely covered with the growth of wisdom, love, and mercy over the years, and now he'll actually converse with me about matters of sin, faith, and belief.
Sorry for being long-winded, when I get on a thought, I tend to think it through and write it down. Didn't mean to take your thread sideways with a personal memoir.

When I see the people participating in the revival, I often think of this verse:

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children." Hosea 4:6 :thumb will do, adding him to my prayer list!! :pray
