I don't understand this either, but I think we have to be careful about judging those people. I was just speaking with a good friend about this tonight (who believes that what Todd Bentley is doing is real) and she is really bothered with posts like yours on another forum she was reading. I think we have to pray for our brothers and sisters and lovingly give them scripture. If it wasn't for this person who loves God and is in the word daily (and is still deceived), I might have posted the same thing that you did. Hope this makes sense - I'm not attacking you - your post was the easiest and most recent one I could use to make this point :).

Thank you for your insight. :)

I don't feel that Sing (nor I) was making judgments against the attendees to the Bentley meetings. One's salvation is between him and God. Sing did say it was "possible" but not likely. Given what I've seen and read and the many, many videos I've watched on Bentley, I really feel he is filled with an evil spirit. I certainly wouldn't judge your friend's salvation; but her lack of spiritual discernment is concerning. We were warned, though, of apostacy and false teachers in the last days and that there would be many who will have itching ears, hearing and believing what they want to. Sad times we're living in now, for sure.

Skater,
Two people I know personally believe Bentley and have gone down to Florida to see him. When I tried to give them scripture you know what they said? They told me I was immature and that I didn't know what I was talking about. When I gently reminded them of every scripture I could that proves this guy is NOT of God they told me I'm crazy. They wouldn't even listen to God's very WORD. It's all very clear. If they are a believer in Christ from Genesis to Revelation then they would not object to hearing anything from the TRUTH, the ULTIMATE authority. And since they don't want to hear it, that confirms exactly what is going on.. that this is NOT of God.

Thanks. I am concerned about her lack of discernment as well. Bentley has created lots of confusion, dissension, and heavy hearts amongst some Christians. And isn't that a motive for the enemy?

I also don't understand this aspect. I don't think we need to transpose the errors of Bentley onto all the people who are attending these so called revivals. I think we should leave the attendee's out of it, there is enough about Bentley and this leadership to be critical over. No doubt some are saved and confused, and some are other...

I have a very dear friend who came over to my house and told of how "God was working over there" I know he is a born again believer I suppose he was trying to help me by getting me to maybe go there with him or possibly just bouncing the whole thing off of me to see what I would say. I sat and listened to accounts of signs and wonders that surpass even what the apostles did! I tend to agree with HeIsEnough about the attendees. I know from experience that the are times when we get out of sorts with the Lord and walk in the flesh and if we dont pray and get alone with The Lord every day, things can become very boring.I believe the Lord is very angry with many of these
preachers that mislead His flock! I also think there is going to be a huge number
of very hurt ,guilty and ashamed people coming out of these prosperity movements, when they can no longer pay their tithes because of the big financial situation that appears to be almost upon us.They will feel that God does not love them anymore because of it! The Lord is Faithful and wont left any of us be snatched out of His hand,I am convinced that He will sort all of this out at the proper time.

Everyone who has posted should read post #54 and the sign of The Spirit's work. Look at the fruit, not the signs. Aside from the show, where is the Scripture, where is the Truth. After people come down from the high, what tools do they have to walk in these dark times?

Please, please, please examine the movement in light of The Word.

2 Timothy 3:16-16

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Isn't it obvious this is missing in the whole Florida mess? How are people being built up and prepared to live in this world? How do they know what to believe aside from the high energy, sensational visual things?

I am just heart sick that this passes for a genuine "work of the spirit". People flock to this man when they should run in fear and thank God for showing them the deception. :tsk

Pointing out lack of conviction of the Holy Spirit that permanently dwells within the believer is not a judgment.

Here is an excerpt of Pastor Jonathan Edward's The Distinguishing Marks of a Work of the Spirit of God

Excellent summation Sing.

"You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them." (1 John 4:4-5)

Christ points out that there will be true and false followers closely resembling one another. But, you will be able to discern the good from the bad.

Matt 13:24-28
24Jesus told them another parable: "The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field.
25But while everyone was sleeping, his enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and went away.
26When the wheat sprouted and formed heads, then the weeds also appeared.
27"The owner's servants came to him and said, 'Sir, didn't you sow good seed in your field? Where then did the weeds come from?'
28" 'An enemy did this,' he replied

The fruit (works) will reveal the true from the false.

Matt 7:15-20
15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

Have nothing to do with darkness and expose it.

Eph 5:11
Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them

As believers, the Word of God is the only and final authority on all and every issue we face in this life.
The Bible warns:
2Tim 4:3
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

When a man exalts himself, he exposes his true motive and true source.

Isaiah 14:12-18

12 How you have fallen from heaven, O morning star, son of the dawn!
You have been cast down to the earth, you who once laid low the nations!

13 You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne
above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain.

14 I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High."

15 But you are brought down to the grave, to the depths of the pit.

16 Those who see you stare at you, they ponder your fate: "Is this the man who shook the earth and made kingdoms tremble

Are they peddling the word of God for profit?

2Cor 2:17
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God

Are they sharing a "new secret" way to God?

2Cor 4:2
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.

Are they deceiving multitudes?

Eph 5:6
Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things God's wrath comes on those who are disobedient.

What is the true believers response to false teaching and apostasy?

Col 3:16
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God.

There are many with testimonies who have come out of cults, WOF, catholocism and the like. We can only point out the teachings which are not biblical. Those with ears to hear, will.

Excuse me if this post doesn't come out just right. This is my first post. I came across this video on Youtube and just could not believe my ears. This is some scary stuff. :fear

Please keep in mind the guy who posted the video added his own satirical commentary and does not in any way endorse Todd Bentley.

See what Todd Bentley does to children? It sounds like that little girl is saying "he's a demon" at the 25 second mark. Those children are abolutely terrified of him! The father keeps saying "we like you"...trying to comfort the child and brainwash her. Let her be afraid. She's right! ( and that laugh of his chills me to the bone every time)

I am also posting another excellent video that perfectly aligns with Scripture and makes it clear once and for all that Todd Bently is a false prophet and one of the many anti-christs that we have been warned about.

Even in today's world it amazes me he has so many followers. Or any followers for that matter. Just scary beyond belief.
