Try this ! Yummy ! Recipe makes two big salads, so double for four or more.
For the salad shells, you can get the Azteca salad shells that revert onto oven-proof cardboard forms, (in the frig section of the supermarket) bake for about 8 minutes. Or use reverted oven-proof bowls for the forms.

Perfect hot taco meat and salad assembly:

(salad ingredients below the meat ingredients)

1 lb ground beef (or venison or turkey, combination)
1 fresh, medium onion, chopped
1/3 cut up green pepper
1/2 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/2 teaspoon oregano
½ teaspoon cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (NOT salt)
1/4 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup water
¼ cup ketchup
For salad ingredients, see below
Saute meat and onion and green pepper … turn heat to low.
REMOVE ALL FAT (so it doesn’t soak into salad shell)
Mix the herbs etc., into the water mixed with ketchup.
Add mixture to the meat ; stirring again.
simmer on low for 10-15 minutes, until the water has been absorbed; ; remove from heat

Form and bake the salad shells while meat is cooking, have hot & ready with the following prepared for quick assembling.
6 green onions, sliced, with some green part.
Shredded lettuce.
A bag of mixed shredded Mexican Cheese
Jar of medium salsa
Sour Cream.
Optional: black olives, sliced, and fresh cilantro.
For each serving:
Put ½ of the meat in the taco salad shell.
Put shredded lettuce on.
Sprinkle cheese on.
Put salsa on.
Put onions on.
Repeat above and put a big dollop of sour cream on top. Serve, with more salsa on the side.
