Is anyone else here in the bus ministry? I thought we might share ideas.

I have been in the bus ministry for just over two years now. I am the captain and driver for the "Old Yeller" bus. I have three very caring young ladies as my bus workers. We average about 25-30 riders each Sunday.

I am trying to come up with promotions to help my cold calling for new riders. I found some inexspensive water guns at the dollar store, 2 for $1, and I am promoting water gun Sunday for all first time visitors to get a water gun. I just started that last Sunday and did have one rider come because of it.

Bus Ministries in America use to be a lot more common than they are now. It is just a transportation ministry of a Church. We go out on Saturdays and knock doors looking for people, mostly kids, who might want to come to Church with us on Sunday. And if they need a ride we offer to pick them up on our bus.

Used school busses are fairly cheap really. We just replaced one of ours. We had 1988 and it had reached the point where it was no longer sensible to keep putting money in it to fix it, so when the clutch went out we took it to salvage. We bought a 1998 Bluebird 72 passenger with just under 100k for only $10,500. Not bad really.

Thanks Whiplash. Yeah it is pretty cool. We just installed four speakers on our bus and started playing kids songs. That is going over pretty good.

Always trying to find ways to make our ministry better. Bus ministries have a pretty high turnover so we are always having to find new riders. That can be pretty challenging.

_ Hey our church used to have pony rides, rent a mechanical bull, have those big slides, have cake walks, give away free food and candy and that would draw in all the kids.
