There's a lot of talk about starting to build new nuclear electricity plants. But those who knew about Three Mile Island, which had an incident, are concerned.

What do you think?

Chernobyl is another concern. But, the Soviet Union was abysmally inept at doing anything other than creating arms. The head of the plant at Chernobyl wasn't a nuke specialist. He was a Communist Party official. He would have messed up a garden shed.

Plus, the design used by the USSR had no containment features, which U.S. plants do. U.S. plants are designed to withstand severe weather, earthquakes, etc. all happening at the same time.

I lived within 25 miles of 3-mile island...we were in the path if radiation would have escaped. I'm still here today with no problems from any radiation.

My DH and I were thinking of buying a property right across the river from the plant but the property was too expensive for us. Guess that tells you where a lot of us stand because if people were afraid, they would lower the prices on the properties right around the plant and no one would want them even then.

The exposure was the same radiation that you would get from 3 cigarettes. The media blew it way out of proportion.

And then they came out with the propaganda movie, "The China Syndrome."
