LEBANON, Ind. — A woman accidentally stabbed herself in the foot with a 3-foot-long sword while performing a Wiccan good luck ritual at a central Indiana cemetery.

Katherine Gunther, 36, of Lebanon, pierced her left foot with the sword while performing the rite at Oak Hill Cemetery, police said.

Gunther said she was performing the ceremony to give thanks for a recent run of good luck. The ceremony involves the use of candles, incense and driving swords into the ground during the full moon.

Gunther said was aiming to put the sword in the ground, but hit her foot instead.

"It wasn't the first time I performed the ritual, but it was the first time I put a sword through my foot," she said.

Gunther immediately pulled the sword out of her foot, and her companions took her to Witham Memorial Hospital, where she was kept a couple days for treatment.

No charges were filed, police said. The Wiccans were warned that being in the cemetery in the city about 20 miles northwest of Indianapolis after posted visiting hours constitutes trespassing.

Wicca is a nature-based religion based on respect for the earth, nature and the cycle of the seasons.

I think a sword through the foot would be a sufficient warning that she should rethink her beliefs. Hopefully she takes the hint.

The first reason I had to check out this article was because I have a very good friend in Indiana who is of this persuasion, so I thought it might be her. Unless she changed her name and age, it wasn't her.

Back in my days of being in that crowd, I actually won the bidding on eBay for a wiccan travel altar and sent it to her for her birthday.

This was the first I heard of swords being used, usually it's daggers that are used in some rituals.

I was reminded of how something like this is explained away--like "what a coincidence!" Or "oops!" And, of course, "how ironic!"

For those of us who have returned to the Truth, I'm sure that we are the ones who are here to warn others of these "religions" and to get people out of them. At least that's part of what my ministry will be.

They're not large in numbers, some guesses I've seen are around half a million here...of course that's half a million too many.

I have to admit, after 9/11 when Pat Robertson said that it happened because of various groups....including pagans. That got me upset, quite a bit actually. Now I know better...and I should have known better then. It is part of God's plan for these things to happen. We can pull out of Iraq and everywhere else we have military, but that would change nothing.

Back on topic-- believe it or not....cemeteries are often used for things like this....it is something of a rush to those who believe in this...both spiritually and ...yes... sexually in a ritual in a cemetery. That's one of the many things I'm quite happy to not have been a part of. But there are those who still are who need saving....for example, my friend in IN---she was Baptist..fundamentalist, took the Bible literally. I guess part of her leaving that life was somewhat my fault.

I haven't heard from her since I came back to reality. I pray for her, and others in this same path, that they come back to what is real and True.

These belief systems be it wicca, druid, etc etc can grab a person quite quickly and it is quite difficult to escape it. But I did....as one other person here did.......there are still so many out there who are lost and don't even realize it. I pray for them all, especially the ones who I know personally.

Yes, it is funny this happened....at the same time, it could very well have been a sign from God that she's in the wrong path, but just brushed it off.

What they do is evil....but none consider it as evil. Some have been into this all their lives, some are new and some are in between. The tie that binds them all is that these "religions" are false and satan is involved taking people away from God and putting them there instead. He's the one they're really worshipping....but they don't believe in the devil.

Anyway....pray for them....they all really need it!

she disparately needs a relationship with Jesus, the true living God that created the earth that the wiccans foolishly worship.it is far better to worship the creator who is worthy of all the worship and praise rather than the creation itself.
