Story: (and you can read his daughter's reports for the paper online. This man is the one who does the CHEO website alert for homeschoolers):

<<Our daughter Katie is the staff reporter for the Times Gazette who got the request while covering the board meeting. Here is what happened; Right in the middle of the meeting during a discussion about how much money the board was losing to home and private educators, the board president looked at Katie from the dais and said "Why doesn't the newspaper do an expose' on homeschooling?"

Needless to say, Katie informed him that she was homeschooled and that no expose' would be happening anytime soon. The other board members laughed, some hysterically, at the board president for unwittingly setting himself up for such a reply.

The next day, she relayed the story Rory Ryan, the editor and publisher of the Times Gazette, who took exception to such a request at an official board meeting. Rory writes an op-ed every Friday and he chose this subject because of what the board president tried to do.

Now you know the rest of the story.

Ron Wright

Here's the article that was written in response to hearing the school board president wanted an expose' on homeschooling.
